The mother and son duo are intensely looking at something beyond. Their curiosity is understood as when I approached closer there were two fat tom cats walking towards them obviously to woo the mother.
I rushed and chased them away

@allknowing I have seen many YouTube videos where a cat pushed another into the pool. They do this for playing.
