Some birds have no respect

Some birds have no respect at all, do they? This one was on a statue of Joan of Arc in the middle of Paris somewhere. Vince snapped it out of a car window. The statue was in the middle of a roundabout and it took us at least a few minutes to weave our way through the traffic.
Our taxi-driver was very patient and eventually we were able to get through and get to our hotel. The rooms of the hotel were tiny and the lift even smaller but it was in a nice area and close to some interesting shops.
Joan of Arc, also known as the Maid of Orleans was born around 1412 and died in 1431. She claimed to have had visions telling her to support Charles VII. She was sent to Orleans to raise the siege and several additional victories led to Charles being crowned king at Reims.
She was later captured by a group of French nobles and handed over to the English. She was burned at the stake in 1431. In 1456, she was pronounced innocent and declared a martyr. In 1909, she was beatified and canonised in 1920. She is one of nine secondary patron saints of France. Her life and aspects of it have been used in cultural works of all kinds.
This black bird thought her helmet made a great vantage point.

@JudyEv It's a little different than "maid", because "Pucelle" is an unmarried woman who is virgin. Jean D'Arc is called "La Pucelle d'Orléans", she was a virgin. At those times, it was important because female virginity before marriage was taken in high regard.

One little bird fights with himself in my rearview mirror and poos all down the side of my car.

@judyev French blackbirds are notorious for their lack of respect. When I used to date Joan back in the day I was forever having to chase birds away from her helmet. Of course they were nowhere to be seen when the smoke started billowing upwards toward them - that soon put them in their place. (She wasn't as haughty looking when I knew her unlike the unkind likeness portrayed by her sculptor).

reckon they figure they can pack more folks'n there't that hotel? 'r coz real 'state 'tis't a premium'n that area?

It's surprising what you suddenly come across when you're just driving through a strange city.

I was just hearing about Joan of Arc on Alexa yesterday morning.(OF course we studied her in school too) It was likely her birthday or an anniversary of her execution or something.
