Social Media... do you really think this is useful?

What do you think about social media such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc.... ? Are these really useful to our day today life?
I’m not a very good fan of twitter bad instagram but I do have an active Facebook and LinkedIn account which I use everyday.
Facebook connect friends worldwide and helps to find friends that we haven’t met for long time.
Through LinkedIn I could find few jobs and found good professional contacts.
So these two are really useful for me.

I use Facebook every day to keep in touch with my friends and online friends (which I value just as much). I also post pages of my blog to Facebook and Twitter every time I finish a new review or article.

I enjoy myLot and have for several years. I have in the past been into other similar social media. I am active at Facebook and I enjoy the use of the computer to give and get mail...

@amandajay when we moved to Canada we were awed by the money needed to just mail a letter to the USA where all our families lives. It was around that time that the kids were using computers in school and we bought one for the house. The kids had to show us how to use it and we use it all the time now. All our mail is now on the email. Our mail box outside is empty or full of trash...when we check it. I found my old friends here when Bubblews failed..now that (Bubblews) was giving us more money than I could even imagine - probably the reason it failed...

if for a business i do think these sites are useful but if someone is just wasting time not doing anything on social media all day then it could be a bad thing haha
