Helping to Buy Notebooks

Yesterday, the sampaguita girl (sampaguita flower vendor) saw me getting out of the church. She knew us for so long, she and her sisters were abandoned by their mother and her grandmother takes care of them. She said school will start June 3, but she has no notebooks yet, because the allowance for poor schoolchildren given by the government has not been released. So I handed her Php 200 or $4 at the Php50:$1. I told her to buy the notebooks and give some to her siblings too. I advised her to study well so she will not be selling flowers in the future. I knew her for so many years, and she and her sisters would always approach us when they see us at the vicinity of the church. I also know the school where they are enrolled. It feels light to help such people who are struggling to make their life better too. They do not force us to give them money and do not complain if we give only loose coins.

You are a very good person. Just like you I too, would help those poor ones, like our laundrywoman and helper. The notebooks will really be a great help because it is less expense on their part already. Indeed, it is so nice to be able to help others in any way we can.

@acelawrites I always give them my used bag, clothes and shoes that I don't use anymore , yearly and give my share of their bonus on Christmastime.

@SIMPLYD it's a good practice; sharing your extras to them who might need those things most. You will reap good karma!

@acelawrites I do agree. I am not sure about my city. Kiddies who are selling things on the street usually reported to DSWD.

@Shavkat in some places, they are so strict with minors doing those odd jobs; but the government should be so efficient in giving them support won't they won't resort to doing those things.

It is such a very sad situation for the poor people here in our country. So sad when some people amass wealth and keep it to themselves.

It is heartwarming to read about your charitable deed but sad to learn about another child being abandon by their parents. Let us hope these kids make it through their struggle and succeed someday.

I hope so; the reason I always ask them if they are attending school. They always said yes. We had known them when they were still so young; I felt so sad when they said their mother abandoned them.
