And they were writing about incest. In royalty, to begin with. I started to wonder if there were different laws about incest in each country and what kind of relation is really considered incestuous. I know that in most countries it is illegal to marry parents and off springs. And also, in most places, relations between brothers and sisters are called incestuous. But how about cousins? And second cousins? The article started with the ancient Kings of Egypt. What do you know about this?

I know here, it is against the law to get together with, brothers and sisters and kids marrying their parents , also it is against the law to marry first cousins. But , you can get together with second and third cousins.

That is why it’s believed King Tut had numerous birth defects. Also why member’s if the British and Russian royalty had hemophilia.

you usually see the high degrees of incest in royal families only. "keeping money to itself and the line pure" as it were.egypt had a religious factor added in too with married related gods.

The ancient Egyptians believed the Pharaohs were gods and because of that they could only marry each other. I'm not sure if that was a practice with those who were not Pharaohs.

@rebelann The laws. If it is accepted then there is a limit where it is not called perversion.

During the times of royalties in China, they said that the off springs or siblings marry each other so the 'sacred bone' will remain in the family.

I have read that in many royal families cousins were meant to marry each other because they wanted to keep it all in the family. I just found an interesting article about this.

Marrying between cousins is considered incestuous amongst hindus. But I don't think that is true about second cousins.
