What's in a name?

As family is sacred to Filipinos, so does the name. There is a saying that even if one has no wealth nor power, so long as the name is clean, one is honorable. That is why Filipinos are very careful not to tarnish the name in any way. Which brings us to a current dilemma of a lady who wants to discard her family name. Not because she is not worthy of bearing the name, but because the name has caused her shame. Her name is Nuelle, and her last name is the same as that of the leadership of the Philippines, exactly because she is a first degree niece. In the beginning, she was able to hide in the shadows, shying away from the political dynasty of Davao. When the uncle occupied the palace, she couldn't deny her affinity, by blood, that is,. She did receive praises and flattery for being family. Disgusted, she halts the pronouncements with "He kills." Effective line. Nuelle could probably change her last name but what is more important now is her being a staunch critic of her own uncle that she refuses to call the Filipino endearment for uncles Tito. Otta girl, Nuelle.

I think most of them who are in politics will have one way or another experience that. It may be her last name, but still it is not her own personality. It does not mean that you have the same last name will make you the same person as the other, right?

No problem with that. She is her own person. What she is uncomfortable with is that people she meets in her workplace, New York, I think, doe associate her as killer.

@eileenleyva as the article says, she is in charge of her own destiny and her own name. I am pretty sure she is not the first one to undergo such an ordeal, with their name tagging along with their politician family

No wonder she throws her family name.. some choose to live honestly which is good.. I think we live in a world where we shouldn't be too traditional in our way of thinking.

Yes, she chose the quiet life totally different from her political family. She dwells in New York, though, I gather, where the news are detailed and gory, there was no escaping the inquisition from friends and acquaintances,
