I feel like I may have talked a little about this before. My best friend, our good friend, and myself are planning a little excursion to the capital. Atleast that's a contingency plan, I'm really not sure of the full details or whether we will do it. We were thinking of it because of a little guided tour that includes alcoholic beverages. This would cost us around $65.00, and does not includ the added expense of a later dinner and then of course a place to stay overnight.
I've got to start saving for this now, but I don't imagine I'll spend more than $250.00 so I am not overly worried about it. Of course, there's always other small adventures / unexpected things I need to have money for as well.
Do you travel your area often? I mean, do you go around and experience the history of your area? I love doing that, finding out little things that I hadn't known before.
What are your holiday / weekend getaway plans this summer?

We load up our metro cards to go in DC for a day and a little extra money like $50 because we don’t want to by gifts or anything when visiting.

That sounds like a lot of fun. I've heard that taking the Metro is the easiest way to get into DC, it's too congested otherwise.

@ScribbledAdNauseum we have more lines we have 4 almost 5. We take the silver line which doesn’t get too crazy and we done it many times with the kids over the years.

@ShyBear88 Oh well that's awesome. I've only ever been on a train once and never on the subway or anything major like that.

I do together with my family. Our island is filled with annual festivals. I get their schedule of the day they are being celebrated and we prepare to witness such wonderful merry-making festivities.

That sounds like a lot of fun. I love going to little festivals and fairs when they come around. It's also fun to get the fried foods that aren't usually available except for in these events.

@ScribbledAdNauseum That's right. We're looking for them too when we visit festival places.

Sometimes I do, through the course of mystery shopping I get to see alot of places I wouldn't normally go to as well.

@ScribbledAdNauseum Yeah, I tend to like just getting out in general..so I am pretty flexible for the most part too.

@snowy22315 Yeah, exactly. Just getting out and spending time with people is fine with me. I should probably be a little more vocal and suggest things, but I'm too busy observing what's going on around me and enjoying that.

I am so easy to please, I'd rather drive around and look at old houses and go into mom and pop shops than anything else.

Being in Los Angeles, there are a lot of day trips we can take in and around LA. I love that school is almost out for the summer so the kids and I can go on our adventures for the day - which is usually what we do during the long vacation.

@ScribbledAdNauseum Oh yah, lots of museums! My kids don't mind if it's not kid friendly either (I've hauled them everywhere
). There's gardens, parks, lots of points of interests. Also it's just a drive to the beach, or the mountains, deserts, wherever. Hope you can come to L.A, sometime . . . believe me we'd love to do more traveling outside of CA (haven't done it yet with the kids).

@much2say I am sure I'll make it there one day. It's good you spend an adventurous summer with your kids, keeping their mind active and away from bored and "there's nothing to do."
I love the beach, but I love an off season beach much more. I don't like too many crowds

I bet there are a lot of museums that cater to kids around that area too, isn't there? I've never been to LA but I'd like to go. I have a friend who lives in LA now, I haven't talked to her in awhile though.

I’ve done most the ‘cool’ things to do in my area a million times. This summer’s vacation will be to just chill and go out to eat a few times. My fiancé will be in town and off work for a week, but that is because I’m having surgery. So other than meeting some people for dinner and seeing some movies - I will be laid up while recovering.

Well I hope that you will have plenty of people to come by and spend time with you while you recover from your surgery. I don't know, I think I'd probably get bored if I didn't have anyone to enterain me while I was convalescing.
I like going to new restaurants, even if it is in my own area. That can be a lot of fun.

I live in an area where I can literally walk a block and I’m in the center of our history, and in July we are likely traveling to the Bay Aea!

Oh how awesome is that! I guess you have a lot of people coming through your community each year? I hope you enjoy the Bay Area, that's one place I'd love to eventually visit.

@Michellekidwell I have heard that it can be expensive. I have a few online friends who live in California and have visited.
We have some history here in my city as well, but it's funny how you don't really appreciate or notice it when it's so local.

I am not quite sure that we will do this, but it's one of the plans. I am hoping to enjoy this summer, but yes, I don't want to get too hot either.
