I just noticed this morning while removing his ticks that one of his ears were swelling. We became worried about it because it could an allergy to an insect bite. Then after a short research on youtube, turns out to be ear hematoma. This means my dog must be in pain, might as well just give him some pain reliever and other meds. Not confident with going to the vet because they might immediately suggest surgery. I should probably buy a shampoo that stops itching.

From the symptoms what you bare saying it looks looks like that your dog is suffering from a conition known as 'Aural Hematoma' where there is accumulation of blood in the ear lobe. The best solution is surgery but then some vets may reduce the pressure by pulling out the serum in the cavity and padding the ears to give some temporaory relief! But you need to attend a Vet as this is a case needed to be handled by him!

Hello @AKRao24 I am really not sure, but I agree with you that this really needs a vet consultation. I think the vet on that hospital will most definitely profiting from this trouble alone.

@Letranknight2015 , This condition requires surgical intervention and the dog suffers a lot from the pain. Better to get operated at the earliest ! don't you have government Veterinary Clinics to attend such cases?

I have not encountered such a problem. I still think that a vet would be able to help her condition to be better.

If only we're neighbors I will give you the shampoo that we bought for our dog. We never used since because he seems to be allergic with any chemical.

I remember our dog before, Father tried to press it and blood was rushing. He was infected by a bug bite. We can hear her crying at night so Father was worried and found out about it.

I hope you can treat him at home. Vets charge an awful lot of money.
