My 8 year old daughter is in trouble with both me and her dad. She gave her brother $5 yesterday and when I asked her how she got it she told me, from her teacher at school playing BINGO. Then not to long after I went to the kitchen to get something and we have a change bin with money in that one collected. I have some cash in there from selling some clothes. Well she took my money that was in there. When I asked why she took it she told me it was in her backpack and I of course told her do that was true why lie that you got it from school from a teacher. So now her cute little tush is getting a punishment we are working it out still what that is other then no electronics for the week.

With kids around, you probably shouldn't keep your loose change jar out in the open and accessible for tempting little hands to get into. It's just like a cookie jar...kids can't resist sticking their hands in there! haha

It’s a container with a back that you have to take off so it’s not easy to get into. The 4 year old would have trouble with it. It’s like a photo frame. So I’m pretty sure it was her.

@ShyBear88 Uh oh, that means you're going to have to find another place to hide your money now! I always kept my loose change/spare money jar on my bookshelf, hidden behind all the books. My kids never found it.

@moffittjc we don’t have a lot of high places not enough space and one child that likes to climb is a lot of things is close to aground just in case the umber knocks it over he won’t get as hurt or crushed.

@Janet357 not even at a young age even when older punishments still happen.

I’ve always told them tell me the truth yes I might be a little upset but take better then what will happen when I find out you’ve lied to me. Lying breaks my trust in and then you have to earn it back.

@ShyBear88 perhaps they learned the lesson the importance of telling the truth. you are right, they need to be disciplined at a young age.

Kids will always try things at least once just as a test, the good news is she shared it with her brother!!

It’s not a polite manners I need to watch’s its about teacher. Watching doesn’t fix bad behavior. She got punished for it and did her time.

I guess maybe your daughter's heart was in the right place, by giving her brother some money..but lying and stealing are certainly not the right way to go about it. I am glad you caught on.

Yeah you can’t fool me for too long. I typically catch one quickly. So she knows she did wrong either way. It just wish that if she did found it she would have just told me when I asked. I asked nicely.

As much as you love your kid, you did the right thing of punishing them. Your daughter needs some serious attitude adjustment. I was given a good nagging by my parents, and a day without TV back then when I was a child.

She doesn’t give much additive but yes she needs a remind that what she did is not acceptable at all and her little brothers are watching her. I I even brought up police.
