National Iced Tea Day 1692 - The Salem Witch Trials were held in Massachusetts. 1922 - Judy Garland was born. She was an American actress, singer, dancer and vaudevillian. She is best known for her role in The Wizard of Oz (1939)-(see photo above), Meet Me in St. Louis, (1954) A Star is Born (the first remake). Some of her songs: Somewhere Over the Rainbow, Trolley Song, Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas. She was married 5 times. Died in 1969 from a barbiturate overdose. 2004 - Ray Charles passed away. Born in 1930. He was a singer, songwriter, musician, composer and pianist. He started losing his sight at the age of 5 and was totally blind by the age of 7. 1950s - Pioneered soul music which was a combination of blues, rhythm and blues and gospel. Some of his songs: Mess Around, What'd I Say, Georgia on My Mind, Hit the Road Jack, Crying Time. In 2002 Rolling Stone ranked him #10 of the "100 Greatest Artists of All Time"; and in 2008 ranked him #2 of the "100 Greatest Singers of All Time". Photo is from Pixabay.
