Moth Mother

Others would probably see this as an interesting huge moth, but in Filipino culture we regard this as a visitor from the after life. It was my mum’s birthday yesterday and we found this visitor the day before in the master’s bedroom.
My mum was so happy thinking it was her late mother which she dreamt of the night before. I am not really much of a superstitious person anymore but I think believing in things like these make people more hopeful in life, respectful towards the departed, and kinder to living things.
Do you believe in superstitions?

I don't believe in superstitions, and I don't fault people who do. Like you said, it gives people hope and makes them more respectful and kind.

@flapiz I'm sure I probably believe in superstitions that I'm not even aware of!

@moffittjc I used to believe in a lot of superstitions until I went overseas. Now not so much.

Beyond the superstition, I got freaked out when I first saw a moth this huge. I don't mind large butterflies, but I'm not sure about giant moths. Maybe because of the dull color, the messy shade, the markings, or simply it's huge. I just don't like them.

The elders used to tell me to stay away from moths as their wing dust can make me blind. I was scared of it growing up.
But I think the superstition of it being a late relative is less scary than it making me blind. Now I’m just amaze to see how big it is.

@Mamerto32 It’s a little bit like buddhist if I may say. Haha.

Wow that’s a surprise coming from an Asian. And also great to see diversity.
