My husband is away for the night and it's bittersweet

While I miss my husband tonight I can't lie I'm enjoying have the whole bed to myself. My husband hates sleeping alone so I know tonight is difficult for him but for me, it's great to not have a human radiator next to me for the night and to be able to spread out on the bed. My husband is awesome in the winter when I'm freezing and he keeps me warm but in the summer he often makes it super warm in here even with two fans and the AC on. For some reason, the AC doesn't get this room cold enough. My husband usually sleeps almost on top of me and I like some space but he can't exactly help what he does in his sleep. He knows I'm not a big cuddler the way he is and most of the time he is respectful of this but in his sleep, he feels the need to crowd me. In a way, I think it's sweet the way he reaches for me in his sleep but in other ways, I find it annoying. I know I'd miss his presence if it were for more than a day or two and I do miss him tonight but I'm also enjoying the extra space on the bed. My husband will be back super early in the morning so it's not like I'll be missing him for long. It's funny how something can be sweet and annoying at the same time. He always tells me he knows I'm not going to miss him because I'll be enjoying the extra space. He knows that I enjoy when he goes to work in the morning so I can take over the rest of the bed. It's not a secret and he has learned to live with it. I try to go to bed even if I'm not ready to sleep with my husband each night. I play on my laptop or on my phone or read a book while he sleeps. He isn't bothered by the noise or the light so it has never been an issue. He once told me he prefers that I be on my laptop in the bedroom with him. He isn't controlling he just has preferences and for the most part they don't bother me. I don't mind laying in bed with my laptop. I don't mind going to bed when he does as long as I can do the things I would normally do while he sleeps. We have made compromises along the way. Tonight is a bit bittersweet while I enjoy the quiet and the cool big bed to myself I still miss his presence. I will be happy to see him in the morning. In the ten years, we have been together we have been living together for about nine and a half years of them and in the time we've lived together we have only been away from each other overnight a very small handful of times so it is not something we are used to. I just hope he is sleeping alright especially since it is a sleep study. He told them the last time when they asked what was different that helped him sleep and he told them his wife which is sweet. It's nice to know that you're loved and wanted. My husband and I have a relatively good relationship. We enjoy being around each other and spending time together and while I do like my alone time more than he does I also really enjoy my time with my husband. It's not everyone that can say they married their best friend. We've had a lot of ups and downs but he has always been my best friend and that's what has held us together in the toughest of times. One night away isn't much but I'm glad to know that my husband misses me as much as I miss him and possibly more because he hates sleeping alone.

I think I can relate to that one, You do have similarities in the way you miss and not miss their husband. I know when I am on a trip my wife would always say that she will miss me but she would welcome the bigger bed she would lie on while I am away.

It's definitely a complicated feeling. My husband is my best friend but he is a bed hog. Even now he has an entire side of the bed and is almost on top of me he automatically finds me in his sleep which in some ways is sweet but in others, it's irritating lol.

He has a sleep study. He has sleep apnea and tonight is the night they're getting him ready for a machine.

@Janet357 The new machines are not loud from my understanding but the one my dad had was super loud so when I found out my husband was going to need one I was less than thrilled because I know how loud they can get but the one my dad has is a lot older my husband would be getting a new one and I guess they barely make any noise or so he was told and I'm hoping it's true.

It must be mixed kind of feelings I experience these often... When my husband isn't around. I enjoy solitude but same time I miss him

It really is. It's weird to be able to enjoy the time away from them but also miss them at the same time.
