Being an over thinker...

Well, I have a dear friend of mine who is an over thinker, at times it has actually been tough for me to comfort her.
But actually speaking, overthinking is not wrong. There is always a war going in their head about the uncertainties...
What I have understood over the passage of time, she needs to comfort her head, first thing is to seek calmness and attain peace of mind. Since I am not someone who is equipped with the knowledge of mindfulness, I just suggested her to meditate.....
Any other suggestions...???

I do tend to over think things. When you tell someone meditate. They think of just sitting there and breathing deeply. That is not always true. I have learned over my lifetime that many people can't just do that. Some people meditate and calm themselves with activities. Like my dances, my brother-in-law runs, and my husband plays the guitar. She need to do some self-awareness work and figure out what works for her. I write that is what calms me the most. I do Reiki and mediations, as well.

Yeah I think you are right. I have learned from someone that thinking of the past and the future can affect your present time. So the best way is to think on the present not in the future or the past and you will feel calmer. If you have a problem in the present solved with what you have right now and do not fret about the past and worry about the future. Think of ways you can solve what you have right now and that is important even if what you have right now is not enough to solve your present situation.

If somebody constantly worries about things which can go wrong, one could advise them to make a list with the possible positive and negative results of an action. This may put the situation in perspective and help the person to overcome their fears.

A person overthinks because of fear. He should define that kind of fear. If he couldn't make it, he should ask guidance or seek the spirit of the Lord through prayer.
