My Peonies are in Bloom

I have two Peonie bushes and I wait every year to see them in bloom. I have been watching from my kitchen window and it has finally happened. I have one dark pink and one white. I love them both. I think I like the pink better but the contrast with the yellow inside of the white ones is pretty beautiful I think. What is blooming in your yard?

Your peonies are beautiful. I have the roses blooming right now, the pink honeysuckle, the pansies, the small carnations and the gladiola are starting to open.

This is my answer:
If you knew the German name of this flower, you'd understand the title. The English name for the depicted flower is 'peony'. Yet, in German, it is called...

We had peonies when we lived in Chicago but I think that might be the only flower we don't have here. I have no idea what the names are of half of them!!

Those are stunning! Peonies are my favorite and I have three bushes. Sometimes they do well and sometimes not.

I think the weather here in Connecticut is perfect for peonies, especially our rainy spring.

Beautiful! Mine are, too! They are all pink to go with our landscaping and smell devine. It was a nice welcome home surprise. Our son has pure white ones at his house. I had to tell him what they were.

I have always like peonies. We had them in our last house but not here. The former owner of our house we have now created 8 perennial gardens. I think there is a little bit of everything in those gardens.

They are beautiful blooms, both of them. We had 2 pretty large pink bushes at our old home. I used to love it when they bloomed late because as soon as they bloomed it felt like the heat of summer would be upon us and spring would be overwith.

Do you have a balcony or deck? So many beautiful things grow in pots. They are already fading, it is such a short time of beauty.

@BelleStarr we do have a balcony but it's too small. We barely have enough room for our two chairs.

They are quite beautiful. Makes me remember back when I had a small rose bush by our porch. How proud and excited I was when I stepped out one day and there it was a big round beautiful bush of white little roses all over

@BelleStarr Oh that's very nice - they smell sweet. Yes, in that case, they should be just outside in the garden.

they're both stunnin'! i fear my lone peony bush perished a few years back. 't struggled fer years out here so i've doubts 'bout gettin' anymore. lavender, grass (my native grasses, which i'm happy fer), desert willow 'n trumpet vines 're fixin' to get started 'n the virginia creeper 'tis'n 'ts last leg. 'tis a shame coz the native bees love 't so. out'n the front'd be spanish broom, texas red sage.

I think you are smart to grow the things that are native to the environment, we can grow things that are not native but it is always more difficult

@BelleStarr thanks, hon. 't times i regret the plantin' 'f so many trees, 's none'd be native (these were grasslands 'fore humans came). i kinda justify such's helpin' the 'nvironment though, since they help remove all the toxins from the air.

@BelleStarr Yes I think I need some taller and more sturdy supports. The problem is the decent plant supports are much more expensive than the actual plants!

I love to just look at them, it is sad that they only bloom for a few weeks then we have to wait a whole year to see them.
