Keto Anyone

Has anyone here investigated keto? I know, I know, one group says it's totally bad for everyone while another group has been following it or a modified version for a year or so. I've been considering going keto for several months now and I will say it's helped me find my will power to stay away from the bad foods. I'm eating a lot more cauliflower. There are many options for foods. I've tried foods I've never considered eating before and made them ways I wouldn't have thought about. The recipe I absolutely fell in love with was cauliflower (Mac) n cheese. It's made using cream cheese, whipping cream and cheddar cheese. And cauliflower and seasonings. If you like pork rinds you can crumble them on top for some crunch. Yum!! I give that one five stars. I made several things before my surgery and wish I made more because I'm having a hard time sitting long enough to do the prep work. Recently, I was going to make cauliflower casserole but was missing the green onions and I couldn't remember whether I had pre-cooked bacon. It was taking a long time and I intended to roast some turnips but decided to put them into the casserole dish and bake them together instead. It's okay. Maybe the actual recipe is a thumbs up but I won't make this again. I would do how the recipe has it but not my modified, lazy version. I'm following a couple bloggers and also have a recipe book. Someone was coming up with a recipe for baking radishes. I bought some watermelon radishes at work and added some of those to my casserole. I had an upset stomach twice after eating it and I'm thinking it was the radishes since I've already tried turnips with no problems. In my image the larger one, I believe is the cauliflower-mac'n cheese. The top right had the watermelon radishes with the turnips and cauliflower before baking and the small crock is that dish after baking. I worked around leaving the radishes behind for eating my leftovers for today's supper and so far my stomach is fine. The last image is my first effort at keto no bake cookies. I added granulated stevia to the melted butter. I'm hoping if I add more of that or a similar sugar that my husband will also enjoy them. They are missing the oats mainly. I made a double batch since I've been wishing they were already made for a while. They do need to be kept in the fridge after a short time in the freezer and I will say they turned out pretty good. Some I made dropping them into a parchment covered cookie sheet and the square ones I put into a silicone tray. They are much better than the fat bombs I made two weeks ago. Any questions? I will say my dentist said he did keto when he gained weight after an injury. My main thing is I don't want to gain after my surgery before I have full use of the joint. ( I will be writing a separate update on that soon). I've been doing this for about three weeks and initially lost five pounds. I'm now where I was last November.

Depending on what you eat currently many eat some fats in their daily eating but not good fats. But not everyone likes every meal plan or diet. We find what works for us. I thought about doing the one Valerie is on but since i normally work two jobs I don't have a lot of time to prepare and cook what's available. This one is also close enough to Atkins that it was a slight adjustment.

I'm glad Keto is working for you. I need to do something as I'm now gaining instead of losing. I was stalled all year, and now. I'll figure it out.

Are you still following the eating plan of the whole 30 it did you go back to some of your favorite foods? There are variation in the keto diet. Some groups will allow some forbidden items while others do not. I've considered weigh watchers before but that would be a totally different way of eating and at present I'm not ready to learn it. Good luck on figuring out what you want to do.

@MarshaMusselman Yes, I'm still following the whole30. I did go to a birthday party last week and I threw the diet out the window. I'm hoping that's what I'm paying for with this weight gain and everything will be back on track soon.

@just4him you would hope one party wouldn't throw it off that fast but a lot depends on sugar and how much we allow ourselves. I'm hoping that now I won't need anything since I've found pleasing alternatives.

I think Keto and Adkins diets are similar but I don't do fad diets, I just buy organic food and fix it however I want. In May 2020 I weighed 217 and recently I weighed myself and was at 190 so at least I am slowly losing a little here and there.

I did keto for a year and a half and lost thirty pounds. I've lost some since not following the plan but I think I have less aches and pains when I'm following it so I will be starting it again soon to try to lose ten more pounds and take stock then.

keto diets can be dangerous 's one needs their vitamin/minerals checked. i've a lil grandson who's'n such (fer seizures) 'n he gets tested fer such e'ery 3 months. gotta do some tweakin' here'n there 'n 't times more supplements. one can lose weight'n such, i know some that're quite tickled with such. trouble bein', 'tis a diet fad these days. lifestyle changes're all that truly works. congrats'n yer 5lbs :)

Well it's gotten my past the sugar cravings and I'm still hoping my weight won't jump much while I'm off. Once I get my Staples removed I'm hoping can move about easier. Thanks for the reminder for minerals. That was suggested and I wasn't able to start any before surgery but I need to begin them again now. I may need to hold off on doing too much keto until I can get around easier since I can do more preparation when I can stand for longer periods of time.

@crazyhorseladycx I ended up losing thirty pounds in a year and a half. Since then I've been eating minimal carbs again and not gaining to much but I plan on staying it back to again. And then work in some toning.

I'm eating cauliflower instead of potatoes at present anyway. When I tried it with just cheese mainly some years ago, I wasn't too thrilled, but when I melted several types of cheese with the thicker milk that was pretty good. I may try the cauliflower casserole I was trying to make the other day again. I was missing quite a few of the ingredients. Keto is a stricter version of a low carb eating plan like Atkins. Have you heard of that one before?
