Every year around beginning of September my parents go to the Cape Cod area for mushroom hunting. I went with them a few years. They go mushroom hunting every day. They find a lot of mushrooms and then either can them or boil them and freeze them. They can last at least for one year, maybe more. My mom gave me two bags of frozen mushrooms last week and I used them today to make mushroom soup. Can't wait to eat it. The liquid from the soup tastes delicious. Are you a fan of mushroom soup and mushrooms in general? Have you ever gone mushroom hunting?

You 'hunt' mushroom? That's interesting to hear. Do the mushrooms run away and/or hide when you're coming?

Well, you go through the woods in search of them, hence mushroom hunting. At first I used to use the term mushroom picking but that doesn't seem the correct term as you have to look for them.

Some mushrooms do hide... They can be underneath some leafs, for example, and you won't see them until you pick up the leafs.

@lovebuglena I was thinking of 'collecting' (that would be the translation of the German term), but English is your language, not mine.

I love mushrooms. I like them raw, cooked, in soups and in sauces.

@MALUSE Yep. Those white champignon mushrooms can be eaten raw. I see them in salad bars all the time. As for others not sure. Though enoki mushrooms you cook for only a few minutes and can eat them.

I love mushrooms. I'd like to get into trying more varieties. There's a mushroom festival one state over that we've always wanted to go to. No, I don't know enough about poisonous mushrooms to go mushroom hunting.

My parents hunted for them back in Belarus where i am from. I've done it with them since I was little. I am no pro though on being 100% sure they are edible or not but I pick up only what looks like the mushrooms we usually pick.
