How Fast Can You Type?

When I was in elementary school, I took a couple of keyboarding classes, Once I memorized the layout of the keyboard, and knew how and where to position my fingers, there was no stopping me. I taught myself how to type 120 wpm, accurately. Problem is, once I got used to typing as fast as my thoughts hit my brain, I had a hard time slowing myself down, when using a more challenging piece of technology, such as a smartphone. Unfortunately autocorrect (I call it autocorrupt) has made me look like an azz on more than a few occasions. One great benefit of teaching myself how to type was that keyboarding class I took in high school which I didn't actually need. It was a guaranteed A. How fast can you type? Were you self taught, did you take classes, or was it a little bit of both?

Last time I checked (long ago and far away) my speed was 85 wpm. As for autocorrupt... I recently came across (in a book) two people arguing and going at it "hammer and tongues"... talk about a creative typo!

Let's see, i could do 200 words in ten minutes. Not exactly impressive, and accuracy is off. I got a lot of typos.

I took a keyboarding class in high school too. It taught me how to type and is a skill I have to this day. My typing speed is not that fast though. I am a perfectionist and when I make a mistake I correct it immediately. This slows me down. But, I really don't need to type as fast as I once did when I worked in an office setting so it doesn't really matter now. My fastest speed was 75 wpm. I probably can type up to 50 wpm now.

I learnt how to type in a manual typewriting machine and passed examinations on lower and higher on different languages. So I can type pretty fast.
