I just don't get it.............

I took this shot of my mimosa blossoms when the sun was shining almost directly into the bloom in May 2011

I don’t get some people. Some want to feed the birds even though they live in Bear country REALLY?? Do people living in areas by woodlands that houses large predators like bears really not learn how to protect their homes?

People are dumb more often than not and mostly only think of themselves. Did you realize this article is seven years old? I wonder what it was that caused this bear to break into the home and more than once at that. I'm guessing something was cooking and the smells were too much to ignore, but maybe I'm thinking of Yogi.

Coyotes are a wonderful addition to any suburb, they eat rodents which doesn't hurt my feelings at all @MarshaMusselman

The ranger wrote about how he'd originally saved this bear as a cub when it was foraging in a trash bin for food, turns out his mother had put him in there to get food so when it grew up it would forage around peoples yards looking for easy pickins like bird feeders. I never set out bird feeders just in case it would attract what ever local mammals there might be that would be attracted by the seeds. It's my responsibility to protect my dog.

@rebelann I doubt the bear Cubs mom out him in that trash can properly so he'd learn to get food. It was probably the closest place to get food at the time. We aren't in an area of wild critters/creatures but even then I don't feed outside wildlife like many do. But north of town I've heard what sounds like cayotes before. Most of this yesterday are surrounded by high fences.

I think we are, all those disasters so many have suffered is Mother Natures way of getting even, too bad so many people don't see that.

That is so idiotic. I can't believe the stupidity of some people. Surely some things are obvious.

I agree. One would think that if you live in areas where there are large predators close enough to create havoc you would do everything you can not to attract them. But what I can't get over is the attitude of that ranger, why the hell didn't he take that cub to a sanctuary instead of letting it loose so it could get to this point in the first place. That cubs mamma wasn't teaching her cub to survive in the wild.

So sad to hear about animals being killed. Why not take him to a santuary to try and help him.

That's what this park ranger should have done when he found him as a cub. Sometimes it's hard to find those kinds of sanctuaries because they are few and don't have the money to support a lot of wildlife. People with money won't bother to support them and those of us with meager means can't really help anyone.

@rebelann I know, when I read that he wa a ranger I was shocked. It seems like that should be part of his job. So sad for these helpless animals.

It is a sad situation. Too bad he did not drag the problematic neighbors to the site and show them their ill-gotten ways. and what they resulted in.

Yeah, I thought he was kinda stupid, he could have taken this bear as a cub to a sanctuary but instead he was stupid and let it go back to his mamma who already knew about human trash cans. He really should be fined for doing that.

Even after alerting they continue with their misbehaviour. And the bear pays for it. How cruel. It is like keeping a bait to trap it.

I went camping only once in my life, I didn't like not having a bathroom close by. Now I see it as another intrusion of what precious little is left for wildlife, every time a stupid camper gets hurt authorities go out to kill what hurt them, it's not fair to expect wildlife to respect our intrusion.
