False advertising?

Or is it just me?
I picked up a copy of The Nest by Cynthia D'Aprix Sweeney.
I had heard that it was a fun book. Right there on the cover it says "Hilarious and big-hearted."--PEOPLE
and
"An addictive, poignant read."--LOS ANGELES TIMES
And I was in the mood for a funny book.
Well, other than a handful of slightly humorous turns of phrase, I did NOT find it "hilarious." And as for "addictive"? I kept putting it down after a couple of chapters to watch grass grow (didn't have any paint drying at the time).
Definitely not a keeper for me.

You should write your own review of the book and post it. I would be very disappointed.

A dysfunctional family of 4 siblings, a trust fund they depended on too much that didn't pan out... I really couldn't care about their problems.

No, I finished it but it took me longer than it would if I had enjoyed it.

And what's worse is, I really was in the mood for a hillarious read.

I never listen to those reviews. Notmally it's a way to sell the books.

I wonder if the people person was forced to do a review, although that seems highely unlikely. Then they'd put whatever even if they didn't care for it.
