Brussels Sprouts for Dinner

We had hamburger steaks, Brussels sprouts and cornbread dressing for dinner tonight. It was a fast meal and nobody was starving and really didn't care what they ate. So I kept it fast and simple. My mom usually turns her nose at Brussels sprouts and most vegetables to be honest. She ate all her veggies tonight with no complaints. I didn't eat or even try Brussels sprouts until after I got married. It was a vegetable that my mother never cooked. Once I discovered them, they became a family favorite. My hubby and all the kids liked them. I love them. Do you like Brussels sprouts? Photo: Pixaby, public domain

@LindaOHio I've never eaten them with onions and don't think that would be appealing to me either.

I need to start fixing them in different ways. Roasted is also good. I usually just boil them and add some melted butter.

Brussel Sprouts are the 'new' thing in fancy restaurants--roasted--and cost a fortune!!

That is one vegetable my mother never cooked and I love it. I made sure my children had a wider variety of vegetables to eat. They all loved veggies and salad bars.

I will eat a small bag or half a bag for lunch in the summer. It's a fast lunch and healthy.

You could describe them as a baby cabbage. In fact, my kids used to call them that. They have a slight bitter taste, but that all smoothes out with some butter when you boil them.
