If you were around in the 80's there were definitely some fads and events which took place that you can remember vividly, perhaps even fondly. Here is a brief recap of some cultural, technological, political and just plain silly stuff which were part of that decade. -Fanny Packs- an accessory worn around your waist to keep your valuable stuff. Wonder if Kangaroos would be jealous? -Nuclear War with Russia- nuclear weapons buildup between the U.S and Russia. -President Reagan's assassination attempt by John Hinckley Jr. -Making your own mix of tunes on cassette tapes. Now CD's are the thing of the past replaced by streaming. -The Jane Fonda workout video. I didn't own one, lol, but I bet many woman did, making it one of the best selling video's of all time. -Exxon Valdez oil spill and Dawn detergent. Seems Dawn was very effective in cleaning off the oil from the birds. -Nancy Reagan's "Just Say No" campaign to drugs. -The Cabbage Patch Doll Craze- did you have one or buy one for someone special? -The U.S. Olympic Hockey team's miracle on ice. Defeating the Soviets who were really a team of professionals was one of the greatest upsets of the Olympics. What's on your 80's list? Or if you can't think of anything you can comment on mine. I loved my fanny pack . . . although I don't have that same exact one, I still love fanny packs! Speaking of Reagan, we recently went to his Library and saw the very jacket he was shot in. I had my cassette mixes til a few years ago . . . I could never play them again, so there was no sense keeping them. I didn't have a cabbage patch doll - I think my mom bought one for my younger sis though. Let's see. Neon clothing, Valley girl talk (like fer sure, fer sure) and I am from that Valley, big hair, rubix cube, rainbows and unicorns, OP and Dolphin shorts, music videos, Challenger (space shuttle) disaster . . . I got a whole lotta them (me, 80s kid ).

Funny, I remember all those events and crazes. I thought that doll was the ugliest ever made and refused to get my daughter one. That's okay, Grandpa to the rescue. I think she had two of them.

@dgobucks226 I never solved the Rubik's Cube. I tried, unsuccessfully. I watched the wedding. I wouldn't miss it.

Some of these are pretty funny actually...like the fanny pack for example. My wife's cousin still uses one incidentally and of course we take every opportunity to chide her for it. As for Cabbage Patch Kids, the focus of your pic, I actually had one of these as a kid. Never was ever into dolls, but there was something about that Cabbage Patch trend that even boys, like me, just had to have one. I still have mine, incidentally, sitting in my closet. I swear it will be worth some money someday...at least that's what I tell my wife. But even still, I am not sure I want to part with it,

There were some strange goings on in the 80's just like every decade has fads. It was fun to remember some of them. I know breakdancing was another I forgot to mention in my post, crazy dance and dangerous too. My sister and Mom had cabbage patch kids. How about My Little Pony? Have any of those too Anyway, hold onto to that little doll, someday she might pay off

@dgobucks226 Oh God. Yes. The breakdancing. lol. I remember the My Little Pony thing too, but never had one. Incidentally never had a My Buddy doll either. I just remember that stupid song, "My buddy. My buddy. Wherever I go, he goes." Ugh.
