JOURNEY THROUGH THE BIBLE
1 JOHN
Day 1
1 John 1
1 John 1:1 That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked upon, and our hands have handled, of the Word of life;
2 (For the life was manifested, and we have seen it, and bear witness, and show unto you that eternal life, which was with the Father, and was manifested unto us;)
3 That which we have seen and heard declare we unto you, that ye also may have fellowship with us: and truly our fellowship is with the Father, and with his Son Jesus Christ.
4 And these things write we unto you, that your joy may be full.
5 This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all.
6 If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth:
7 But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanses us from all sin.
8 If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.
9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
10 If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.
Have you been an eyewitness to an event, whether a situation where you needed to give a statement and or appear in court to give your account of what happened, or were on hand to witness a historical event?
People want to know all the facts concerning events and will ask many questions until they have the full story of what happened.
John was a disciple, apostle, an eyewitness to the life and death of Jesus Christ. He leaned on Jesus at the Last Supper. He wrote the gospel of John and the book of Revelation, besides these three epistles. He had first-hand knowledge of Jesus Christ.
John was straight-forward. After giving his credentials for writing to Christians, he let them know the message of Jesus Christ so their joy would be complete. He let them know they were all sinners and to deny that fact would make God a liar and God’s Word then would not be in them. He also told them the easy way to God’s forgiveness, admitting it and asking for forgiveness. When you do, God will forgive you.
As Christians, you know you are a sinner and the only thing that saves you is confession in Jesus Christ, accepting Him as your Savior and Lord, and when you mess up, confessing your sin. God will forgive you. It’s His guarantee.
Life hands out many guarantees, but you need to read the fine print to know what is guaranteed. With God, His forgiveness is a no-strings-attached guarantee. There is no fine print to read. If you believe in Him and confess your sin, you are forgiven.
Let’s pray: Father, thank you for giving me eyewitness accounts of Your love for me. I know I am a sinner. When I mess up, forgive me when I confess my sin. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

Yes it is true. How many times we forget when we have sinned again in some small way. like telling a lie or not giving forgiveness to a fellow human. Every once in a while I have to remind myself to ask for forgiveness of such sins.

God's promise to us is that He will forgive us every time. Look at verse 9 above. Have a blessed day.
