I was jest a sittin' here, feelin' a tad blue 'n goin' through notifications here when I caught movement out'ta the corner 'f my eye. Jest the brief glimpse 'f a red tail that looked out'ta place. First thought bein' 'tis a strange time 'f day fer a fox to be climbin' my tree. Fetched the camera (fox 're quite sneaky 'n thus hard to get a good pic) 'n when I returned to my bay 'f windows - looky here what I saw. Not a fox (bummer, but perhaps some day?) A bonafide, livin'/breathin', true to life squirrel! Nope, ne'er seen one out here 'fore. The hubs professed he'd seen some 'p the road a bit a couple weeks 'go. I thought perhaps he'd gone a tad daft due to bein' out'n the scorchin' heat fer 8hrs. Nope, that fella 'twas no foolin'. I did the happy dance, rang my sweet momma (she's used to my antics) 'n took nearly 200 pics 'f this lil cutie. So thanks to all that've said they'd send me a squirrel, coz such's finally come true. 't was quick to lemme know the bird feeder hangin' nearby 'twas empty, lol. I reckon someone knew I'd the need fer a lighter heart 'n sent such a miracle.

Tell him I said he looks like he'd be mighty fine with some carrots and potatoes and a hint of garlic and onion, and see what he says. Actually, I love squirrels, even when they eat the seed I put out for the birds. Heck, I can even attach a picture of me showing affection for squirrels. You'll find it heartwarming, I'm sure.

@debjani1 no squirrels where ya reside? we used to've lil ground squirrels 'n folks poisoned 'em 'til all perished :( 'twas a delight watchin' this lil'un run 'round investigatin' 'n then runnin' back to the feeder fer 'nother tidbit.

@RubyHawk eatin' his porch? sounds like a pup i'd many years 'go. ate my porch swing whilst i 'twas't work. come to find out, he'd a chromium deficiency. wonder if'n that 'twas the squirrels trouble, too? i'm glad ya thought 'f that pepper spray. i 'lways prefer a humane way 'f dealin' with destructive critters.

yer most fortunate to jest be able to 'njoy 'em, ms. ruby. this lil squirrel 'twas most cooperative fer 'ts photo shoot, lol. 'd a starin' contest with the resident cat (who 'twas'n her perch eatin' dinner when she saw 't), who's ne'er seen a squirrel. she didn't know whether to be concerned 'r not o'er this other furry critter.

@crazyhorseladycx My son had to chase squirrels away. They were eating the wood on his porch. I told him to spray the wood with pepper juice and I think that stopped them.

yes ma'am, send 'em! 'twas great to watch 't fer a few hours. dunno where 't'd be now?? i've quite a few trees which're all jumpin' distance, 'r such could'a returned to the highway?? i'll take the black bears (though the neighbors'd frown 'pon such), tree frogs'd be 'lright, but could i pass'n the yellow flies? thanks! 'twas great fun's those squirrels're most photogenic :)

@1creekgirl oh, i've birds who poop all o'er e'erythin', lol. jest a part 'f 't, though messy 't times. the bears'll stay 'til they run outta food, then might come'n closer. jest be'n the lookout 's such'd be a bad habit fer 'em. no ma'am, none 'f either. i 'magine such's due to all the moisture there? then 'gain, sometimes critters 'f all sorts 'f boomin' years 'f high populations. i've 'nough flies 'f various species here now coz folks 'bout 1/2 mile 'way 're raisin' dairy calves 'n they aint very tidy 'bout such.

@crazyhorseladycx I loved and adored those cute little green tree frogs until they pooped all over our back porch. That was a mess to clean off. I'm not quite as taken with them now. We do have black bears behind our house where I hope they'll stay. The yellow flies (similar to deer flies, do you have them there?) are horrible this year. Maybe the weather has affected them.

'ndeed! the hubs's now askin' 'bout a squirrel feeder, lol. i told 'im normal folk'd be wishin' fer a squirrel-proof feeder. gonna need more seeds/nuts though. jest hope 't survives the rest 'f the feral cat population. thanks! lucikly squirrels're easy to snap pics'f. they see movement'n tend to freeze versus flittin' elsewhere.

@crazyhorseladycx Yes most people want to keep them away from the feeders. They do make feeders and you put an ear of corn, but not sure if I would encourage them or not. Glad to see you finally got a photo to upload for you.

@CarolDM if'n not fer all the feral cats, i'd welcome 'em with ears 'f corn. i fear fer their safety though so shall refrain from such. that'd be why the bird feeder 'twas empty. i used to keep 'em full stocked, but that made easy pickin's fer the cats... yes ma'am, quite tickled i'd no troubles with the pic thingy. would'a made'n odd discussion without the pic, lol.

Such fun does happen sometimes God or the powers that be does save us from sadness at times . It's what critters are for I think. Did you fill the feeder then or just toss it some bread?if it loads here is one visited me often out my window at the other house.

@crazyhorseladycx this one would climb the side of the house, jump on my window ledge , then jump onto the water spout and go across the roof and daughter said it would jump into the top of a persimmon tree there and collect those very cute. may be different ones too though as I can not tell one from the other. know nothing much about them.

@bunnybon7 aw, how cute! they'd be lil daredevils, that's fer certain. don't reckon i knew they liked persmissons? but then i'd none 'f that back'n the hills. kinda like the birds here. there'd be some i can 'dentify coz 'f all the pics i've taken 'n blown'p (aka: cropped) so's i can see certain spots'n one that'd not be'n 'nother. lil diff'rences'n feather patterns, etc. 'f course, i don't know 'til i've done wizardry here'n the puter, lol.

i think yer correct. 't times i wonder if'n the invasion 'f calicoes 'd be a sign from my dad (passed'n 2011) 'n then this lil squirrel... other times i think i might jest be goin' off the deep end. what a cutie! i'm certain such brightened yer days 'n ya miss the lil darlin'. no ma'am, no bread (bad fer 'em), but did put out a few sunflower seeds. i could'a given 't some pecans, but those'd frozen 'n i aint to sure if'n that'd gone well?

squirrels like nuts 'n seeds. 's far 's damagin' a house? i reckon when they're seekin' a safe nestin' spot they could make holes'n ones home. they're prone to chewin' wires, too.

yes ma'am, those lil toes'are quite long. he'd (she??) been roamin' 'round the tree, goin' to the swing, shakin' said bird feeder 'til 't found a wee morsel. 'f course, then i'd the need to put what lil bird seed i'd left out fer 't, lol. 'twas much needed, those hours 'f watchin' this cutie.

I love squirrels but there aren't any here. We have Japanese civet cats that walk on the electric wires and climb up to the roof. When I was little, I remember listening to squirrels jump off the tree and scamper down the roof. Civet cats are the size of a raccoon so they thump.

oh how sad :( i hear they've squirrels'n japan, jest must not be where ya reside. those civet cats sound like our cats 'n fox. quite the ruckus when they jump from the trees to the rooftop'n the midst 'f the night. big thumps that jolt'cha straight out'ta deep slumber. hey, aint that civet cat where that 'fancy' coffee comes from??

i'm thinkin' that wheree'er the squirrel came from'd feeders? i've not fed the birds since the influx 'f all the feral cats. felt such 'twas not fair to the birds, bein' such easy prey. the cats hang out'n the trees quite oft. i did put some sunflower seeds out fer this squirrel though 'n 't must'a 'ppreciated such coz't hung 'round fer a bit 'fore disappearin'. we'll see if'n 't returns 'morrow....
