It’s been a few years (thankfully) since my city has dealt with this kind of tragedy. Doesn’t make it any easier though. We lost a police officer tonight. He responded to a market in a known bad area of town for a report of a bad check written. The suspect shot him and ran. He was unconscious when backup arrived but it’s known via video that two wonderful ladies held his hands and reassured him help was on the way. He died awhile later at the hospital. Two kids lost their father tonight.
The shooter left his credit card at the scene accidentally...collateral for his coming life term in prison. He’s in custody but hasn’t been named yet - likely will be at a press conference in the morning.
RIP Officer Michael Langsdorf, EOW 6/23/19

That is sad, a life taken over a bad check. It's crazy that people are getting killed over the dumbest things now.
Sad that this officers family now has to deal with this. They lost a family member because this moron decided that a little trouble over a bad check was the cost of this officers life.
