I'm an Inside Gal

When I was young I was an outside gal
Playing outdoors with my friends.
When the street lights would come on at night
Our long day had come to an end.
Now that I'm older I'm an inside gal
Content to stay inside.
No delusions of planting a garden;
Pulling weeds is not my style.
One hot humid sunny day
I decided to venture out.
I picked a chair upon the deck
To see what this outside stuff was about.
The sun was hot against my skin
Sunscreen and sunglasses I skipped.
Squinting into the sun I wished that
I had a little something to sip.
Before too long a gnat appeared
Then two, then three, then four.
A beefly was trying to light on my arm
To see if he could score.
A few mosquitoes ventured out
Into the heat of the day,
Whining continuously in my ears
As I brushed a wasp away.
Ants started crawling across my feet
I'd had enough for the day.
My arms were flailing all about.
To keep the bugs away.
I quickly retreated into the house
And hurriedly shut the door.
I leaned back in my recliner chair.
This is what the inside is for.
The A/C is humming right along
Keeping the heat at bay.
I turn the TV on and think
An inside gal I'll stay.

I like the poem! Very well written! I like the indoors too.

I like both, it depends on the heat of the day or all these storms we have had lately.
