Due to acidity problem I tried ash gourd juice in morning. It is easy to make and drink as well. There is no particular taste and it can be easily consumed without any problem. It has been said that this juice can clear our intestine. It is a cooling agent so good for acidity as well. Any one tried Ash gourd juice? Image from google

I think ash gourd is our "kundol" as in our language , Pilipino. We haven'ts tried the juice, but it is delicious when it is done into syrupy dessert with some pilinuts. SO delicious. Sometimes, it is made into soft candywith sprinkles of sugar - so delicious.

For making one glass we need 1/2 kg (or less than) for that we have to give 20 rupees. So on everyday count it is costly. But in villages, it grow easily and free of cost.

@Sreekala I wish I could live in the villages, too, where fruits and trees adorn the fields. We have God-given fresh food in the provinces also where we only have to pick veggies and fruits in the yard. Alas, I live in the outskirts of the metropolis where all food are expensive. But I will get this ash gourd juice soon as I can.

I take it quite often. It is quite healthy and considered to be beneficial for women around perimenopausal age and menopause issues. I was suggested this by my doctor. I am okay with the taste. I add a pinch of ginger and pudina to it before grinding.

I made it plain and drink the same as it is without adding anything in it. I felt good with its taste. Ash gourd is widely used in ayurvedic medicines.

@Sreekala Not exactly but it tastes similar to tender coconut. I also drink it plain at times. Yes it is beneficial. I often add it to sambhar so that my children also eat it.

I have never see this fruit. Is it like a squash or a cucumber in taste? If I had acidity, I would drink my water 30 minutes before eating and avoid acidic foods like meat and dairy and junk foods.

It can't be eaten as raw like cucumber, but with much water content like Cucumber. Its skin is very hard one like Pumkin and there is a white coating over it like 'ashes' otherwise its cover is green.
