Not enough for dinner

Stone the crow! I've almost run out of money. Pay day is tomorrow. And tonight, I haven't bought anything for my dinner. With the money I have on me, I can buy food but not as expected. I cannot go on without dinner as my lunch today was too little -- only rice + cooked vegetable. No meat, no eggs either.

I often have just rice (or pasta/noodles) with vegetables. Meat can be expensive! Payday is the end of this week. There is always something in my kitchen, though. I try to make sure we have plenty of fruit but, apart from my sons having ham on their sandwiches, we don't eat a lot of meat. I think I should have enough cash to treat us to some sausages tonight, though.

@yanzalong There are currently 3 of us most of the time here. For a while, it was mostly just two of us. Sometimes it's 4 of us! Having 2 teenage boys, we get through quite a lot of food.

Since I live alone, I tend to spend more money everyday.

Well, that's a bit of sacrifice. Some or most poor people don't have the 3 square meals. They didn't ear their breakfast. Instead they eat it during lunch time and sleep at night without earring their dinner.

@yanzalong Sorry. Do you have a family to support? If you don't mind what's your job?

@Nakitakona I am an employee of a private company. My salary goes to my family. I keep a small part only to survive in another city.

I haven't heard the expression "Stone the crow". It's very colorful. Hopefully you can stock up on food tomorrow.

I'm sorry to hear this and I know what you mean, my husband and I have lived off peanut butter for a long time because we couldn't afford other stuff.

Food is nourishment. We need food to get going. Rice with vegetables is a meal to be thankful for. I love that simple meal. But you must be a carnivore, like many of my friends and family. Couldn't last without meat. Hope you get a chunk of succulent meat today. God bless you, friend.

Better get some stocks before spending it all on other things once you get paid. It's really hard to budget sometimes.
