It's a Late Day

What happens when you wake up late? Everything else gets behind, like a domino effect.
I woke at 3:19 AM, one hour later than I normally wake up. Now, most of you are still happily in dreamland. However, when I wake up late, it pushes everything behind. My morning routine was curtailed so I could get out of the apartment on time. Only I wasn't on time. I was 20 Minutes late leaving for the pool this morning.
To my credit, I still got to the pool by 5 AM. I arrived right on the dot. I found when I got there, I wasn't the only one having a late day. My friend was later than I was, so was another swimmer. Another swimmer didn't make it today. It was still a full pool with six people, one in each of the lanes. No overcrowding today.
Because arriving late and getting in the pool later than I like, also meant I stayed in the pool longer. Five minutes longer in the pool. Now, five minutes might not amount to much, but when you add on five minutes to everything else in your day, you can see how behind you really are. All because you got up late.
I needed to do a small grocery shopping this morning. Not like my normal weekly shopping because that refund I mentioned yesterday, won't be here until early next month. They are mailing it on the 27th. So, I'll have a little extra for food next month. To my credit, I didn't need much and was able to use my food share card and still have a couple of dollars left on it for next month.
Okay, if you're following this timeline, I left the YWCA for the store at a decent time. I hurried with the shower and getting dressed. I made up some time, the time I needed in the store.
I arrived home, took care of some things on the Internet, fixed my breakfast currently in the oven, and am here to interact with you for the next few hours. It's going on 10 AM. I'm usually on the computer by 7:30 AM after swimming.
It's a late day. Now to get at the 136 notifications you sent me since I logged off yesterday to work on a book, which was two books, but who's counting? While I work, I'll be waiting, listening for the microwave timer, and expecting the tantalizing aroma of my egg bake.
Today's egg bake has 3 small potatoes, mushrooms, half an onion, and a tomato along with 9 eggs. It should be ready in half an hour. I might even indulge in a cup of tea while I wait. I've already had 3 bananas. I know, I usually only have two in the morning, but I was hungry. I had a late morning and my stomach was demanding.
How is your day stacking up? Was it good, if you're already at the end of your day? Or are you slow to get started like I was this morning?
I hope you have a great day. Thanks for reading. The picture is a previous egg bake.

We humans don't like it when our schedules are disrupted!

I had no idea you got up that early. I'm sorry you fell behind though. It's never fun to have your schedule or routine interrupted. I hope tomorrow will be better for you.
My day has been fine. I got an earlier start, just trying to keep my focus on my work while still catching up with others' posts since it's been a while.

@just4him Gotcha. I'm glad it's been working for you. Sometimes a change in our routine can make a big difference.
Thank you. It can be hard, so I've been trying to stay on top of them, especially since I won't have time next weekend. I hope your day has been good despite getting a late start.

I've been getting up that early since I started swimming at 5 AM. I started out swimming at 7, but I wasn't doing any real swimming, just walking around in the water. So, I went earlier when the lap swimmers were there and it's been better.
I'm glad you've had a good day. I know how hard it is to catch up on notifications.

It's the only schedule I have so I can swim early and then get home to start my day. Well, technically it's already started with the pool.
I'm glad you got the quilt finished. I hope you take a picture of it. I'm sure the squirrel kept you entertained for a bit.

That's uneasy condition if you get up late. You're unable to do your routine. You'll be missing them. It's better ti get up early for early bird catches worms.

When you get up is my deep REM sleep time. I've had several sleep studies done and from 4 am to 6 am is my REM sleep stage. Here lately I've been running slow due to being so tired. I will be happy to get back into a normal routine. But you gotta do what you gotta do.

Yes, I understand. Even if we get late by 5 minutes, that will affect the full plan for the day. On top of it, we should keep rushing things and that will add more stress..
That apart, your schedule was pretty good. I can never get up that early in my life..

This last week I've been up later than usual, after three instead of after 2. I guess I needed the sleep. This morning was better. I woke at 2:20 and closed my eyes to open them at 2:40. I could have sworn it was only a couple of minutes. It worked to my advantage though. I didn't feel rushed before I left for the pool.

that's never been the case for me, but then I don't have specific time frames for things to get done, as long as they get done. (well, unless I'm going off Cape. then obviously we need to plan a time to leave and when we should be back).

Being late can sure add a bit of stress to best laid plans... And that's speaking from experience
My Dad was a good one. Played golf for the first time since injuring my shoulder and all went well

If I wake up late I am like a horse that acts crazy especially if I have appointments but if I am just staying at home and no schedules to rush in then I will be more lazier. That food in a tray makes me hungry.
