I went for my passport today. I had called so that I was going to have the appointment at a certain hour. But at the door, there was a thug who asked me what did I want and did I have a number. Yes, I said.
So he clicked my ID numbers (maybe I´m too stupid) and told me to wait. He gave me a certain number and I found out that they were attending someone with a bigger number. As I asked loudly why was it, another woman came with my same problem. I wondered later on if the man was expecting a tip.
Finally I was called. And discovered that a normal passport (32 pages) was 50 cents cheaper than the 64 pages passport that is used by people who travel a lot (and have lots of money, I suppose).
So I bought the big one, even if I have to give it tp Sofía to draw when it expires.
Passports for middle class families who take their children abroad once in their lives should cost less than passports for tycoons
How is it in your country?

It is VERY expensive here. But I can go with just my ID to most of South America.

@Bensen32 It is around that here too. But here that amount of money means more as most people earn less.

The US has always given me the visa in seconds. It seems the I am a better person for US immigration than for my people.

@marguicha no it is just the lines. They get to skip the long lines if they have Global Entry

@NJChicaa Years ago, when I went to the US consulate for my visa, there were lots of people waiting for their turn. There I was a VIP
They did not keep me waiting and I got all my papers in a jiffy. I never knew why.

It has been awhile since I bought passports for my sons. If I remember correctly, the cost was the same for when they were little (5 year passports) and older (10 year passports). They are expensive.

I would never fill 32 pages. Not in only 5 years

This seems unfair, that wealthy tycoons get a financial break. It probably happens in the other countries, too.

I've never heard of having different passports here but perhaps we do.
