This morning I set up an Excel sheet to track my calories, the macros, the burned calories from exercise, and the total resulting calories. Without going into all I ate yesterday my totals are: Calories - 1507 Total burned calories - 492 Total Calories - 1015 Macros: Sugar - 60.2 Carbs - 165.18 Protein - 51.8 Sodium - 227 Fat - 24.8 I had two meals along with exercise - swimming and leg press. I'm going to watch the calories go down as the burned calories go up so I can see the weight loss. I'm determined to lose weight. Are you doing anything to lose weight? Thanks for reading.

I am trying to stick to a sugar free, fat free, low carb, low calorie, low sodium diet. So far in the last two weeks I have lost 7 pounds. Good luck with your weight loss.

Congrats on losing 7 pounds. I was surprised to find out how much sodium and sugar is in some of the foods I eat. Nothing unhealthy in anything I'm eating. If I went low carb it would take out my potatoes and my bananas. Those are the two items I depend on daily. I'm doing my best to cut down on them. So far, I've had one of each this morning.

@HazySue I know. I'm not as worried about the sugar since it's natural, as I am about the sodium. If I can keep it at or below 500, I'll be all right. The minimum is 500.

@just4him When I started looking at the sodium and sugar levels of the foods I was eating I was shocked. It turned out that my diet was high in both even though it was supposed to be healthy.

Yes, I do the 2:5 diet 2 days on and 5 off. It works as long as I don't overeat on the days off as I usually do. I have to track like you do..I just have to motivate myself too.

I've never tracked before. I tried to find a program, but it's all apps now and I don't do apps. I hope the 2:5 works for you.

@wolfgirl569 That sounds interesting. I don't see burning many calories while you sleep. No, I don't sleep eat.

I count my calories intake, I do not check how many I burn, I know that the body needs about 1200 calories to function and that it is extremely hard to "burn calories". When I exercised at the local hospital because I had to regains strenght in my right shoulder, I remember that after half hour or hard work the instrument clearly showed that ONLY 157 calories had been burnt. I have lost 2 pounds the past 7 days.

@just4him The food that have more calories are fats and sugar. When I decide to lose some weigh I do not use any kind of fat and I renounce to my piece of chocolate every day. A tablespoon of oil is more than 125 calories, more or less the same the butter. I have always been a bit maniac about my weight, I can say that I have a "calories table" in my brain.

@LadyDuck I use Stevia if I use sugar at all and it's zero calories. I haven't had butter in a very long time, though I use coconut oil or extra virgin olive oil if I need to. I haven't used either since I started this or I would know what either of those has for calories. So far, my fats are in a decent range.

I'm going to try to get my calorie intake down to 1200. I was surprised it was higher than that with what I'm eating. I was also surprised by the macros for the various foods. I can't imagine what those would be if I ate preservative foods or junk food. It would be very high. That's great you lost 2 pounds.

Swimming was the largest part of the burned calories. Today I counted how many laps I did in the time I'm in the pool so I know how to get an accurate reading. I hope the stretches work.

I am working hard to cut calories and cutting back on carbs. With summer I'm hoping it's easier to lose some weight by eating lighter meals. I like your idea of tracking which makes it easy to see what you're consuming.

Yes, and seeing it is an incentive to cut down. Salad time should cut down on those carbs and calories as veggies tend to be light in both.

Yes but I write down every bite of food I eat so I can see why my blood sugar is so high and to lessen the sodium intake. My doctor put me on a 1200 calories diet and I am to up the activity.

I can understand you need to write it all down for your blood sugar. I'm not diabetic. I just need to lose weight. Is a 1200 calorie diet hard for you to do? I know the activity isn't hard. You're very active.

@andriaperry I've noticed most of what you eat is vegetables and greens. Those don't have a lot of calories to them. Although when you go to a fast food place, that would have a lot more calories.

@just4him No its not hard, some days I eat all day but yesterday I ate less but heavy foods. I have been writing mine here every night, too, I think I skipped once when I forgot.

I'm learning to eat smaller portions. I also need to drink more water. I thought I was drinking more than I am, but now that I'm keeping track of that too, I see I need to drink a lot more.
