Wrong item received

I was impatiently waiting for my AirPods silicon cover, especially the KAWS one, but got disappointed when it was finally delivered. Why? It was not the design I wanted and the Champion one was missing a lanyard!
How do you deal with a shop that delivers a different item? I messaged the seller which was from China and told them I got the wrong item. They said they'll send me a freebie when I order again. What?! I stayed calm. Didn't get angry. I sent them a photo of what I received and told them this is not what I ordered. Their response, "we will send you the right color when you make another order." I insisted I didn't receive the wrong color, I received the wrong item. And finally, they said this: We will send you the correct item, we are sorry.
So now I am just patiently waiting again for them to live up to their promise.

I ordered through a site similar to amazon. But before I could rate the seller negative, I reached out first just to see how they'd respond to me.

@LadyDuck I could see the timeline actually from when the seller prepared the order because in here, sometimes the courier takes a long time to pick it up from the seller's shop.

@toniganzon I also rate the sellers all the time on Amazon, some are really good, others are slow.

@JustBhem They said they would and I am still waiting for that. I am expecting for it to arrive next week. I can't just rely on words.

Good that you protested. I really hope they'll do as they say. But they did not ask for another shipping fee to be paid by you right?

I didn't pay for shipping fee at all and they sent the right items to me as well. I have almost forgotten this discussion actually.

i hope i'm wrong but somehow i get the feeling this is their SOP and their first 2 answers sounded automatic.
but when you made an effort to make them understand the situation and what you want done, only then did they really listen to you and probably realized you were serious. and only then did they say they will do the right thing and then apologized. i hope it was just miscommunication.

I doubt it was a miscommunication at all. It was ordered through a third party app.

Have to wait till I actually receive the correct item. If not, I would certainly give this seller a negative rating.
