A minaret in Doha, Qatar

I’ve written a little about our two-night stay in Doha, Qatar. I think I mentioned the very modern architecture that dominates the streets. Here is a minaret which was lit up during the evening.
It is a round building although it looks here as though the back is flat-sided. Photos can be deceiving sometimes. We are in the middle of having a book printed with the best of the photos in it. It will just be for us but we’ll be able to look at it when we want. Do you find you take lots of digital images but rarely look at them later?

In the past I tended to make a digital photo album every year which we can watch from TV. So we will know what happened to use in a year and where we travelled to. Later the software had some bugs suddenly and I haven't found a good software to make it yet.

That looks beautiful.
Having a book of photos is really a brilliant idea. I do miss those old album days in this era of digital images. We don't have the earlier charm and excitement.

@arunima25 Maybe it will have to wait till you have more free time. It's not something that can be done in five minutes.

@JudyEv That's good! I have been planning to do so for quite some time. But whenever I see those plenty of digital pictures, I loose my motivation. I need really good time to devote to sort them out and take prints of good ones. With so many things coming up every day, I do not see that happening anywhere in near future.

@JudyEv i'd been lookin' fer a printer, but the aunt'n momma thought they'd done me a favor purchasin' this'un. (hp envy photo 7155) i tried to pay 'em fer 't, they'd not 'ccept. said i've done their taxes fer years'n ne'er taken funds fer such so 'twas their way 'f sayin' thanks.
sadly, the print quality 'tis horrid. the color cartridge 's 3 colors'n if'n one runs out, ya get 'nly black'n white. did i mention that jest 4 color photos'n 'tis out??? yup, piece 'f junk....e'en printin' jest'n black'n white 'tis awful, with grey lines 'n distortion.
reckon i'm gonna need to sit down one day'n see which pics'd make the best books'n get such done. that choosin' 'tis diff'cult, lol.

@crazyhorseladycx Some printers really are the pits and the cartridges last no time at all so I know how frustrating it is.

Are tourists allowed up in the minarets at all?
I'm not much of a photographer, so whenever I travel I'll only take a few photos here and there. But I do go back and look at them often, if nothing more to remind me of the great times I had!

@JudyEv Isn't it funny how our brains have morphed in such a way that we're always thinking about myLot? I am the same way, Wherever I go, I'm always thinking about the possibilities of a story on myLot!

@moffittjc Yes, it does become quite addictive. I guess that's okay while we have other 'lives' as well.

That's really cool photo you have captured of that minaret. I always wished my parents had a camera back when I was born, I always love going through old childhood pictures. A few which were taken by our relatives in those days still fill my heart with joy when I go through them

The minaret in the picture looks as if it were built with orange glass.

Yes, but I too have little photo books printed with trips and in the case of the kids I give their parents a book of the year.
