Key West - Mile Marker 0

People in the Florida Keys rely on Mile Markers just as much as, if not more than, addresses to figure out where a town, attraction, post office, etc. is.
For example, Key West is Mile Marker 0, the Dolphin Research Center in Grassy Key is MM 58.9 and the Islamorada Post Office is MM 82.6. Consulting the Mile Marker chart is also a good way to find things to do and see in the Keys. For example, 102.8 = John Pennekamp State Park Entrance, Key Largo, oceanside. The larger Keys have a gulfside and an oceanside designation to them which makes it even easier to find a destination.
If you haven't guessed by now, the Florida Keys is my favorite place to visit!

There are b&b's there. You can visit Ernest Hemingway's house and see the cats. Gold treasure museum. Other museums. It's so small downtown you walk around eateries and bars. Boat rides and fishing. Stores for you shop in. I am surprised you haven't been there.

@DianneN Dianne - Let me know which Keys you plan on visiting; and I can get out the map I made and give you the sights to see.

We've been down there 4 times and wanted to move down there. We haven't visited in quite a few years.

@CarolDM We wanted to move to the Keys; but the cost of housing down there has skyrocketed over the past two years. In the area we want to live in the average house price is now $500,000.
