A late Canada Day celebration

This is a bit late but just so my Canadian friends know that I thought of them on July 1, here is a photo of our Canadian flag about to be hoisted to the top of our flag pole. I really like the maple leaf on the flag.
There was no breeze at all so I had to hold the ends so that the maple leaf is displayed. I wasn’t fussed about being in the photo but - I did it for Canada!! I hope you all had a marvellous day.

We have quite a few Canadians on here now. Americans are probably still in the majority but other countries are catching up a little. At least I would say so although Switzerland and Australia are dragging their fee, don't you think?

@JudyEv now that I think about it... Flags displayed on or around people's homes in this area (and most of the USA) are usually displayed banner-style or on a very short pole attached to a front porch.
Actual flagpoles are much more common in Canada. I wonder if it's a British Commonwealth thing...

@SophiaMorros I guess flagpoles are harder to put up and more expensive.

You flew Canada's flag at your home in Australia? Pretty interesting! You know, our country's birthday is coming up in a few days (4 July), will you host the Americn flag as well? haha
I saw a lot of people around here celebrating Canada Day. But then again, we do have a lot of Canadians living here in Florida!

@JudyEv You'll be proud to know that I used to have an Australian flag when I was a college student. I used to fly it all the time. Back then, my dream was to move to Australia and live there permanently; however, your immigration laws made my plans a little more difficult than I had expected.

@moffittjc I think our laws make immigration a little more difficult than they expect for a lot of people.

Vince has Canadian friends on some photo sites so we thought it would be nice seeing that we had a flag.

We had a Canadian group lined up to play at the Music Shack so we thought we'd buy a Canadian flag. We might have pegged it on the back wall as part of the decoration. I can't remember now and the relevant photos are on Vince's computer and hard to access.

We happened to have a Canadian friend. Vince and I both have Canadian friends; Vince on FB photo sites and me on myLot so we thought we'd fly the flag.
