Do you ever suffer from "long thread amnesia" on MyLot?

I enjoy long discussion threads on MyLot. They're often the most informative, or the most hilarious. But sometimes the threads get so long, or carry on over so much time, that I can't remember what someone is responding to. If you get a comment on an older long thread, or get involved in a long discussion with lots of participants, do you bother to look back over old comments to "find the flow" and get back into the conversation? I actually do. The photo is of sail boats in the harbor from the other day in Tiburon.

Sometimes, it depends on how long it is and how much time I have. If I am the joke of the thread, I ignore it and more on. It gets confusing.

I've never seen anyone literally be the "joke of a thread," though a lot of teasing goes on between me and certain members.

I often go back but sometimes it's still difficult to follow the conversation.

yes sir, happens to me quite oft. a tad annoyin' when others 've joined'n 's their comments 've nothin' to do with what'cha were conversin' 'bout originally. then ya spend the time weedin' those out tryin' to make any sense 'f 't all.

@TheHorse there'd be times i wish i'd not come here, nor got roped 'nto that "other place" prior. (thanks auntie!!) but then 'gain, i've got to know quite a few good folk 'n learnt loads from other countries. fer me that'd be "cha-ching" 'nough. the rest makes me figure i waste lots 'f time here fer mere sections 'f a penny't a time.

I do, but even then it can be confusing. At that point, I like it and move on. Love the picture.

Thanks! found that town refreshing! I'll only get involved again if I was an active participant early on.

If I have much time, I go back to see the original comment.

I try to as well. Unless I've lost interest in the direction the thread has gone.

Yes I do, as time allows. It is amazing how many comments I have missed when I get behind.

Sometimes it takes several minutes of just reading to catch up.

I'm referring mostly to those that do, but only if you re-familiarize yourself with the thread. Some comments make no sense because the commentor did not understood what you wrote or didn't read the whole post.

I often have to check back and see what the original discussion was about when immersed in a long thread, and sometimes in not-so-long threads. What were we talking about again?

@TheHorse - Yes, on both counts. I get "long thread amnesia," and I go back and re-read enough that I can answer intelligently when I respond. It has been decades since I have been to Tiburon, but it is a beautiful island! "If I had but world enough and time ..."

@DeborahDiane Literary reference? I just said what came to mind. I wish I had a coy mistress here. I'd probably spend less time on MyLot.

I'll see how it is. For a real worth the read discussion thread, I wouldn't mind reading even if it's 20 pages long. But if I find like it's lacking in depth or whatever, I'll just browse through like tryina choose a DVD movie to watch.
