Buying a larger package of something or buying in bulk does not necessarily mean that you're getting the best bargain. Individual produce items, for example, may be cheaper for each piece than when purchased by the bag.
The mist that is sprayed on fruits and vegetables may make them look fresh; but the extra water can make them rot faster. Shake off the excess and consider putting a paper towel in with your produce when you get home.
When a store runs a 10 for $10 promotion, volume takes off...but check the actual price per item. You may be paying $1 per item when, in fact, it sells for $.89 each when purchased individually.
Do you like hot pizza from the deli? Chances are it's the same store-brand pizza that is sold in the freezer section for much less.
At the fresh seafood counter most products are labeled "previously frozen" in small type. They are probably the same products that are for sale in the frozen food section for much less...and you won't have to use them right away.
Many times there is little difference between the prepackaged meats and cheeses at the deli and what can be sliced to order; and you are saving $1 to $2 per pound with the prepackaged items.
When you buy fresh bread, many times it will come in a paper bag. This is because it will go stale much faster. Either take advantage of the plastic bags offered in the bakery or transfer the bread to a plastic bag once you get home.
I hope you can use some of these tips.

That's good to know, and some of them I have noticed! Like the 10 for $10 promotions especially!

It is amazing how many are not aware of what a good deal is or how to preserve their food.
If we buy bread or make our own, we put some in the freezer for later. The last thing we need to do is throw away food.

You need to check the per ounce price when comparing size.
