It looks like we are going to have to let the ferrets go with no harness. I’ve 6 month old’s harness started to cut into his skin. I saw it last night when I went to give him a bath because his fur was getting rough which means dirty and can cause him to itch more. While taking off his harness I noticed it was higher then I normally would like it to be and that a tiny piece of his skin was under the clip. I gently pushed the skin out of the clip so it wouldn’t hurt or cause him trouble. A little bit of dry blood, and the room all of his harness should help him. I have to watch him for the next few days till it heals all the way to keep infection from happening. He isn’t crying seems happy an lively like normally. He whimpers a little because he was lone in the tube without our other ferret.

@ShyBear88 I am so glad you took off the harness. I have never had a ferret so why did he need a harness?

Ferrets don’t make sounds very much and are extremely sneaky and get lost very easy because of there size and tendency to hid when they want to sleep. So harness are something that a lot of ferret owners have with a leash and bell. It’s not required it’s based on I’d you want them. His skin is probably more sensitive and he growing quickly which meals do more so then the females.

@Hannihar we have a cage they stay on most of the time. We are working on a different cage for the ferrets one that is easier to clean and gives them more space. For the two of them they have a three stage ferret cage which is perfect for 2. Because our house has a lot of holes and isn’t ours we don’t let them run free unless it’s in play pen we have for them. Which we try to take them out every day to do also our kids are still young and don’t know how to hold them yet within hurting them. The older two do okay with the ferrets in there hands just not the 4 year old.

No poor babies the dark haired one is a year old. The light one is the 6 months old and he has the boo boo. I don’t know where the mom is because they where sold by a pet store from a breeder. Ferrets like most animals only spend a few weeks with there mothers till they no longer need them. Humans are the only animals that care for young till they are 18. Animals have different life spans and age differently then do.

@Janet357 both are more then 2 months old. We got the light hair one around 4 months old and the girl at 6 months old. We thinking of getting another 2. Because ferrets like to be in sets or groups they live happier and play with each other happily.
