What did you have for breakfast this morning?

I had a long day of work today, and my alarm forgot to go off, so I had a quick slice of toasted sourdough bread with butter and cream cheese on it before soaring onto Highway 680N and heading in. I have lox here but didn't have time to open it up, as the gremlins have hidden each of my five pairs of scissors. Yesterday, with more time on my hands (my alarm worked), I had an interesting breakfast, based on what was left over from my Sunday (hot weather) lunch. I poured some canned Garabanzo beans into a bowl, added some canned Mandarin oranges, topped it with Trader Joe's blue cheese dressing, and then added some slices of apple. It was quite satisfying and kept me going until lunch (yes, I worked that day as well). Do you sometimes base your culinary choice on what is in your fridge and cupboard at the time? Do you have any "unusual" combinations that have worked, as mine did?

Sounds interesting. I also crave strange combinations. I had blue cheese as a snack last night on coffee streusel cake it tasted great.

My breakfast was very mundane. Homemade chocolate granola (store-bought granola is way too sweet) with a large dollop of natural peanut butter and some milk.

Did it do the job? I'd prefer a dollop of yogurt.

@SophiaMorros I kind of respond to what my body asks for. Often I eat a lot of protein (for example, steak with just a bit of mashed potato next to it), but other times my body says, "Just give me mac and cheese!"

@TheHorse if o don't add the peanut butter I'd be starving again much sooner. I tend to eat a lot of protein.

@TheHorse Two pieces of toast and tea. I'm still not 100% recovered from that horrendous gastric attack of yesterday.

I usually plan my meals and I have in the refrigerator what I need to prepare what I planned. This morning we had cottage cheese, blueberries and a slice of toasted bread with orange jam.

@TheHorse Because I had a morning workout and sometimes I puke afterward. I didn't want to have anything in my stomach.

@NJChicaa Puke? That does not sound healthy. What is wrong?

I had lunch for breakfast. And yes, what's in the fridge says what goes on the table.

Heh. Tonight I bought a Safeway roasted chicken because I was too lazy to think about cooking. It should last me three days or so.

We often concoct something out of what we have in the fridge and pantry. It's surprising how inventive you can be sometimes.
