Day 13 Revelation 6:5 Revelation 6:5 And when he had opened the third seal, I heard the third beast say, Come and see. And I beheld, and lo a black horse; and he who sat on him had a pair of balances in his hand. 6 And I heard a voice in the midst of the four beasts say, A measure of wheat for a penny, and three measures of barley for a penny; and see thou hurt not the oil and the wine. Famine has been part of human existence for thousands of years. Death and poverty are part of famine. However, the famine spoken of here with the black horse shows another type of famine, the famine of the Word of God. The pair of balances in the rider’s hand shows how little faith there is among those left behind. Jesus is the Bread of Life. With the Tribulation comes a scarcity of the Word of God. Only a few will have it and impart it to others. The oil and wine in Scripture have always referred to the Holy Spirit and His work in the lives of believers. Though Antichrist will try, he cannot touch the work of the Holy Spirit in the lives of those few who become believers during the Tribulation. While Jesus tarries, the Word of God prevails. You have access to it in abundance. The day will come when the church will no longer be available and Antichrist will do all he can to destroy the Word of God. Let’s pray: Father, thank you for Your Word which is readily available to me. Help me take Your Word to the nations while there is time. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
