If You're Not Using the Stuff in Your Home, Get Rid of It

People, as a general rule, have too much stuff. Storing stuff in your attic, basement or closet doesn't make the "stuff" you own suddenly more desirable, useful, or valuable. Hubby and I aren't pure minimalists, but we're awfully close and we don't like clutter or like having "stuff." Do you have too much stuff?

I have a question for you, Lori. What can a person do, when her husband collects and stuffs closets to the max and she is a minimalist? Hmmmmm.

My son has recently moved in here for a while, and he did a massive clearout for me! I freaked out at first but I'm enjoying it now.

I don't think I have it. I have some Computer equipment but it works. I just don't use it.

@LoriAMoore It does. I am getting it down more each time I do spring and fall cleaning and rearranging in the house.

I got rid of a lot when I moved. I still have many cooking gadgets and serving dishes but they make me happy. I enjoy cooking and entertaining.

I like to "collect" things, but I'm not a hoarder. I know a woman who is a true hoarder. My husband gets rid of stuff, except in his barn where he keeps things he may need someday.

And that's what catches up with some people, "things they might need someday".

Yes I have too much stuff. I made a vow to get rid of stuff but my gung ho has slowed down. I need to get back into the swing of decluttering

We do have too much stuff . But we are actively trying to sift out everything and have been making tons of donations lately. I know we will never be minimalists, but at least we will be rid of the much of the stuff.

Yeah, I have too much stuff! I have resolved to become ruthless though. 15 year old Oprah magazines that I haven't looked at in years..are not worth taking up space. Also, I have 10,000 chargers and electrical cords(exaggeration) that I have no clue what they go to..even if I find what they go to, I am not using them!

My daughter and I probably have too much stuff. We might be moving next summer, so I'm going to be getting rid of some things, and trying not to accumulate too much more.

For the past 7 or 8 years I have been working on getting rid of "stuff". I pack up several boxes (the first few years it was at least a half dozen) for Goodwill. My husband is a bit of a hoarder; so I'm working against that!!!

My wife and I have been on a tear over the last few weeks. Multiple trips to Goodwill, to Habitat for Humanity, and of course filled trash cans. We have barely made a dent.

We have too much stuff. We keep getting rid of stuff but more stuff shows up. We also still have a lot of our sons' stuff because the youngest doesn't have enough room for his stuff and the oldest keeps getting moved around by the AF and doesn't want to tote his stuff.
