Home from the Hospital

My granddaughter and her brand new baby girl (Anna) were released from the hospital today. I'm afraid they let them go too quickly and she will be back in the emergency room. Her feet and legs were badly swollen. And she's very sore from the cesarean. But she's home with hubby and the baby's swinging in her little swing chair. Hopefully everything will be well.

They really let mothers and babies go home early and all because the insurance won't pay past a certain point. I hope she'll be all right.

Thank you very much. I'm sure she will recover well, it takes time after a long labor then a c section. She'll probably be fine in a few days.

No, she didn't have to go back to the hospital. She and the baby are doing fine. It's taking awhile to heal but that's normal. She and the baby have been back to the doctor for a checkup and they are both good.

It's always the little women who have large babies, my mom was 4'11" when I was born, I weighed 8 lbs and a few ounces @RubyHawk my sibling was almost 9 lbs.

@rebelann Wow, I'm 5' 2 and mine all weighed 7 lbs and some ounces. My granddaughter in 4'9" just a little shorter than you. 8 and 9 lb. are really big babies although i had a friend that had a ten lb baby.

She is tiny and he is tall. I suppose that's why they had such a big baby. She's a plump baby.

So do I but the insurance wants patients out quickly. She really needed to be kept in the hospital for a few days in my opinion.but she'll feel better in a few days and the baby's fine.

@LadyDuck When I had surgery a couple of years ago, I was in the hospital five days but I suppose a c section is not considered too dangerous. Although I've read that we have many women die in childbirth.

They spit them out of the hospital quickly these days, don't they? I would have thought that they would have kept her for at least a day or two just to make sure no infection set in on the C-section incision area. Maybe the length of stay is determined by what the insurance company will cover? I hope everything ends up okay for your granddaughter.

@RubyHawk As long as she takes it easy, gets lots of rest, and doesn't move around too much, she should be fine.

Yes, I think it's according to the insurance coverage. I wish they had kept her longer after a c section. She's still in a lot of pain but she should feel better in a few days and the baby is doing fine,.

Absolutely under most circumstances they do, but after a c section and her feet and legs swollen, I'd hoped they would keep her longer.

Hope all goes well too. There are home visiting doctors and I saw a commercial about online doctor visits too: https://livehealthonline.com/ https://www.mdlive.com/what-we-treat/ Swollen feet and all that pain even going to the emergency is difficult. I never had one of these visits and don't know if your family's health plan covers it or cost of it, but saw commercials about it on tv. I found these sites to ease c-section pain: https://healthfully.com/537233-how-to-ease-post-c-section-pain.html https://justhealthlifestyle.com/how-to-reduce-tummy-after-cesarean-delivery-home-remedies/ https://www.healthline.com/health/pregnancy/c-section-tips-for-fast-recovery Hope these help and take care. Knowing help is near by and fast is such a comfort.
