I think I thought of something...................

I took this shot of mom's turtle in the late 1990s with 35mm film

K, still thinkin....... gimme a moment.............. Well, my friend DianneN reminded me that it's been a while since I last wrote something ...... other than a comment that is ........ so I went through my old stuff on the CDs and found a shot of one of mom's turtles. Oh how I miss sitting with her in her back yard watching her dogs, cats, turtles and the birds. Believe it or not turtles are just as curious as the dogs or cats and this one couldn't figure out what this crazy human was up to. He was a box turtle found in parts of the desert here but after mom passed my sibling told me some guy took them all to a sanctuary, I hope it is the truth. Do you like turtles?

Yes they do, the one in the photo was about 20 or 30 years old, I can tell because it is the one with the damaged shell.

They like cat food. Mom always gave her's bananas and avocado etc as well as the pet food they'd steal

They will eat almost anything @LadyDuck I remember mom would caution me that my toes looked appetizing to them so I would keep my feet above their line of sight.

I've never had anything to do with turtles. I hope that this one did get to a sanctuary.

I am not as fond of reptiles as I am of mammals. But if a reptile chooses to be my friend, I will be their friend. We have a turtle named Tiny Tim at the preschool. He loves broccoli. So, whenever we have broccoli for snack or lunch, I make sure to put some in his dish. I think Tiny Tim knows I do not want to eat him. He eyes me carefully and then comes out of his "house" to eat the broccoli.

Poor Tiny Tim, I feel sorry for reptiles in captivity because they really aren't like dogs or cats ..... did you know that turtles also eat insects, birds or mice? They are omnivores. Mom's turtles loved cat and dog food and the funny thing was how mom's cats n dogs always gave the turtles first choice if they wanted.

@rebelann Aw, that's so sweet! I don't know if they give Tiny Tim meal worms, crickets, or other yummies.

They can be very illusive but if there are little boys around it might have been victimized.

Yes they do but they tend to think they can keep turtles as pets and that's harmful to the turtles @RubyHawk most parents don't teach their kids that they must respect all Gods creatures.

Nice picture of the turtle. I didn't know they were curious reptiles. Yes, I like turtles. My brother would find them and bring them home and they hung out in an old metal washtub in the back yard for a while. I never knew what happened to them.

They don't really move that fast and many times they won't try to move on hot pavement, here the asphalt gets really hot on hot summer days.

What a wonderful thing to do. Mom rescued a turtle with a damaged shell in 1963 and apparently she was pregnant because after that we always had baby turtles, mom loved those kritters.

I would never confine one to a back yard like mom did, I'd rather they were free to roam where they wanted to.
