Sharing my favorite movies from my childhood with my son

As a child of the 90s, (I mean I was an 80s baby but grew up in the 90s) some of the best children's movies came out when I was little. Some when I was very little and have vague memories of their release and others that I remember very well. These are movies I love sharing with my son. I was never personally, a Disney princess fan as a child. I loved "The Little Mermaid" and "Pocahontas" but didn't care for "Sleeping Beauty", "Snow White", "Cinderella", or "Beauty and the Beast". I have found I actually prefer of the newer Disney Princess movies over those particular movies. I loved "Toy Story" and "The Lion King" and I loved "Home Alone" and "Home Alone 2" I did not care for the third one and choose to ignore that one most of the time. I got to see the second Home Alone in theaters and I laughed so hard I could barely breathe. I loved sharing these movies with my son. My son loves Home Alone and Toy Story. I plan to take him to see the fourth one hopefully this week some time. I was actually pregnant for my son when I went and saw the third one and the third Toy Story movie was the first movie my son really watched. I remember it was right after his cleft lip repair and he was stuck in a hospital bed in his carrier because he couldn't lay flat and he couldn't do anything so he just stared and watched Toy Story 3 and I remember him trying to smile at the characters on screen. The fact that I get to officially take him to see one of the Toy Story movies in theaters means a lot to me. It was one of my favorites growing up. I remember renting it constantly from Kroger when they actually had a video rental area until my parents finally just bought it for me on VHS. I will also be taking him to see the movie in the same theater I first saw it in which is sort of neat and it's the theater I saw the second and third movie in and the third movie he went with me considering he was still in the womb. I love sharing childhood favorites with him. He doesn't always appreciate them the way I did but when he does it's nice to be able to share them with him. I figured if I could watch The Lorax, Despicable Me, and Cars 2 on repeat he can watch a few movies he may not want to watch but he almost always ends up loving them. I no longer let him pick movies on a regular basis because otherwise, he'd never end up watching half of them and loving them. It's nice being able to share childhood nostalgia with him. I've given him several things from my childhood that I kept and it's nice getting to see him enjoy them. He loves when I tell him about my childhood. It's a nice bonding experience and it's fun watching his reactions. I still can't get him to sit through "The Wizard of Oz" which was my number two favorite childhood movie right after "Peter Pan" with Mary Martin...of course those weren't made in the 90s but they still remind me of a simpler time. One day I'll make it happen.

Same here, The Little Mermaid is one of my favorites too. I was going to let my son stay up and watch it last night but he was giving attitude about it so I made him go to bed lol.

@sissy15 haha we’ve done that before to our kids too. To bed early when they give me the wrong attitude.

I actually prefer the classics from the 40s and 50s but as far as children's movies some of the best came out in the 90s albeit The Little Mermaid actually came out in 89 but still close enough to the 90s.
