Researching car insurance

Now that I'm not living with my husband any longer I need to get separate auto insurance. I've been putting it off because, well, I wanted to let him pay for it for awhile but he's been on my case so today I started checking out policies.
I've done 2 companies so far--the one we currently have (and that I had before we got married) and Progressive. Apparently the companies are able to tell what cars we have, what level of coverage, etc. . . even Progressive which I don't currently have. That made my life easier.
Keep in mind that car insurance in New Jersey is outrageous because we are the most densely populated state in the country. New Jersey Manufacturers quoted me $989 for auto insurance only. Progressive quoted me $696 for car insurance and then $139 for renter's insurance which brings it up to $835.
I still need to check out Geico and my husband suggested Travelers. So far I'm going with Progressive.

Wow that is pricey car insurance! It's a lot cheaper here....well depending how often you would pay that amount. Ours is $300 something for 6 months.

Yikes! That's a lot, I'm sorry. I hope Geico or Travelers will be even cheaper.

We have Safeco and Renters Insurance is a really good idea.

Vehicle insurance can be very expensive. We currently have four drivers and four vehicles...and are paying a small fortune twice a year.

Hopefully you could find better rates! It is quite pricey for car insurance for me as well!

We are presently insured through Progressive and love it!
