Hiking in the Heat / myLot

The missus and I took the pups on a short hike - 1.82 miles/2.93 km - this morning before it got too hot. The trail was through a nice forested area and much of it was along a small river. We returned to the camper just after noon and are in for the rest of the day. Even with the a/c going, the heat and humidity are making it warm inside. I'm thinking it might be time for a nap. I hope you're all having a good Thursday. What are you up to?

The nap got put on hold. We're having too much fun watching a family circle the campground with their Airstream because they can't seem to pick a site to park in. They've gone by 3 times so far.

We received a late afternoon thunderstorms that made out evening walk a little more pleasant (it was still drizzling) than it has been of late.

We had the oddest shower. It rained in front of the camper but not in the back.

@DWDavis Alabama rain! It pours in the front yard but the back yard stays dry. I drive to the grocery store (less than a mile away) walk through the rain, get groceries, walk back out through the pouring rain and never get a single drop at home. It tends to go with summertime heat and high humidity.

We were going to try hiking the next couple of mornings but after this morning have decided it may be too much. A 100-degree heat index at 10 in the morning is too much.

It has cooled down some now that the sun had dipped below the treetops and isn't shining right on the wall of the camper.

We do like this park and plan to return in the fall. This time of year it is nice and quiet if you want to stay in your camper and write, which is what I did most of the time.

Me, too, now. We're about to take the pups out for their afternoon walk. Shouldn't be too bad. Heat index is only 108.

I drove home from Tennessee in a nice air conditioned car that got about 38 MPG. I’ll be having a passionate affair with my air conditioning until this heat breaks next week.
