Not Funny, But Yet...

Truth is often said to be stranger than fiction. Some things, as it goes, you just can't make up. And then there is the thought of 'some things aren't funny, but yet...' Even sometimes certain tragedy can have a comical aspect to it, even if it genuinely is no laughing matter. For example, there was a 59-year old construction worker in Minnesota that was killed after a truck driver who was 'distracted' hit another car in front of him. During the crash the trailer separated from the semi and slammed into the construction worker, killing him. What was the distraction? The truck driver was watching porn on his cell phone when the crash occurred. Now, I have to admit to sometimes being on my cell phone more than I should when I am driving, especially when I am traveling on business and am trying to get certain work done. But still... I have never resorted to watching porn while driving. Considering any reason I might decide to watch porn at all, presumably I am not just wanting to watch it, but am probably wanting to enhance the experience of... Ahem...another certain personal activity. And I can assure you that if I decide I want to do that activity, I certainly cannot fathom the idea of doing that either while I am driving. Either way, while the story does have a very tragic outcome, and while the whole incident is more than a little stupid, I could not help but chuckle a little bit at the thought of the whole thing. The driver of the semi has been charged with criminal vehicular homicide. In another 'comical' aspect, the name of the truck driver happened to be Doom. Tate Doom. Doom indeed.
