Superstitions

Am I superstitious?
There are many superstitions. Some of the ones that don't bother me are: putting a hat on a bed, opening an umbrella in the house, throwing salt over your shoulder, breaking a mirror, stepping on a crack, walking under a ladder (unless someone's working on it -- that's just common sense), having a black cat cross my path and many more.
Now I WILL tell someone to "Break a leg" before a performance, I'm sure that one time or another I've crossed my fingers behind my back (most likely when I was a child), I did follow "Something borrowed, something blue..." for my wedding; and one that I ALWAYS follow, (my husband included), is "Knock on wood". An extreme example of this would be: "I hope the plane doesn't crash!" Say "Knock on wood!" and knock on some sort of wood immediately. Why? I don't know. I also don't like to flip the page on the calendar until the next month has arrived. Why? I don't know.
Many hotels do not have a 13th floor because of guests' superstitions. Is there a 13th row on a plane?
Do you have any superstitions; or do you think it's a bunch of bunk?
Thanks for stopping by.

I used to fly for a living, I had a superstion that if I didn't think about crashing the plane before I took off, that might be the day I crash. If I thought about crashing after take-off, and realized I hadn't considered a crash before that flight, I'd get a panicky for a bit. An un-named, and unique superstition unto myself.
Silly.

How awful! I'm deathly afraid of flying in large planes. I can handle the small ones.

Mine are kind of the same as yours, except for the wedding one. Don't really have any others though.

Yes i am very superstitious i never walk under a ladder, and never break mirrors, also in theatre you will always break a leg and never ever say good luck ever.... for some reason saying good luck to many actors is bad luck.

I do not believe in superstitions, The way my folks explained it - superstitions were made to prevent someone from potential accident - like the ladder might fall when one passes underneath.
The knock on wood and cross my fingers and break a leg have become common expressions. We like to use these expressions on appropriate situations,
My Theology teacher, however, was emphatic - superstitions are sins. Thus, I don't believe in such.
But I believe on angel on my shoulder, penny in my pocket, found a four-leaf clover and put it in my wallet. I still wish on stars above me........
