Pee O'Clock came early this morning with Ace bugging me to take him out starting around 5:30 a.m. EDT. We - Ace, Ginger, and I - walked a circuit of the campground, which measures about a kilometer/0.62 miles. It was very nice with nothing but the sound of the forest birds making their morning calls and the hum of a/c units on the few camping rigs here in the park. There are 11 occupied campsites currently. During our walk, I only spotted 3 other campers up and about. Today promises to be another hot one with very little chance of rain to cool things down. We will spend most of the day here in the camper reading and watching movies on DVD. Tomorrow we head home. What are your plans for this Saturday?

I was going to just sit and stare at your snowflake image and think cool thoughts. It didn't work though. Two seconds and I was transported back to early elementary and the very real struggle to make scientifically accurate paper snowflakes...ones with six points. Isn't it funny how things stick in one's brain?

Making those paper snowflakes was the bain of my first-grade art experience.

I had a pretty lazy Saturday as it was hot here also. I went and seen both of my sons then came home and stayed inside. What camp site was you in?

@DWDavis That is interesting. I wasin NC about 15 years ago. I never got to see anything. I was working too much to be able to go out and see things.

@velvet53 I spent most of my childhood in eastern NC and saw surprisingly little of the state. I moved home about 25 years ago and have been trying to make up for it since.

We were at Medoc Mountain State Park right on the fall line between the piedmont and the coastal plains here in NC. Medoc Mountain is a 360-foot high remnant of a Paleozoic mountain range that existed some 350 million years ago.

Thanks to 50 amp service and our camper's a/c, we are staying cool. This morning we went for a walk of about 1.5 km and stayed in the shade as much as possible. Heat index/Real Feel was already up to 42C.

We got up and packed up at Pee O'Clock to beat the heat. The heat index was still 38C when we got home.

We are managing to stay cool. Took a short walk this morning, about a mile, and that was enough for us and the dogs.

You reminded to me that I have to feel the bird feeders. I heard them this morning and I bought seeds when I went out grocery shopping.
