Water

It has now been long enough since we had rain that things are drying up. I had to water.
I have mint and other herbs to cut back, and I picked another small bundle of lavender.
All the birds are pleased that I am keeping the birdbaths fresh and filled.I have a lot of dragonflies visiting as well.
Of course since I did all that today we will likely have rain tomorrow.
The evening air has a damp smell and that is cooling to me as the darkness is setting in.

I am hoping that by watering I am guaranteeing that the rain will come today or tomorrow.

When the ground is dry, and then it rains, the water doesn't really soak in. It just splashes up and makes a mess.

It runs downhill through the grass as well. I am hoping that I am doing enough to be able to soak up a little rain as well.

@GardenGerty This is why I did not even cleaned the pond this year, I have seen many larvae of dragonflies in the water. Let all them live and eat those horrible mosquitoes.

We had a little rain the other evening, but it seems it did not rain in the backyard where my house plants are.

Yes. I mostly have herbs this year, and a volunteer cucumber plant, tomatoes and onions.

We are not desperate yet, but especially with me transplanting things, I have to have moisture.

@GardenGerty yes ma'am, otherwise such'll not be successful. our grasses 've all turned brown 'n crunches underfoot like leaves'n autumn. weeds 're curled, cacti shriveled.
