An update on my dad....

Perth, Australia
July 21, 2019 4:35am CST
If you saw my previous post then this will make more sense. I'm sorry I'm too tired to do a quick summary of what's going on. My dad came back from the doctor. The doctor didn't really have much to say. He simply just said that he will swab his toe and send it off to the lab to test for any infections. My dad has to take antibiotics 4 times a day. So far it doesn't seem too bad. The doctor didn't really have anything negative to say at all so that's a good sign for now. I'm really tired and kinda having trouble breathing tonight. I have this every now and then. I had it last night as well. Maybe anxiety related. Not sure. Mind is busy at the moment so who knows. Just cooking dinner for my dad and brother. I may come back on here later or go to bed. Not sure yet. Thank you to everyone who helps comfort me during times like this. I wasn't too worried but obviously I'm not the type to feel completely stress free either. So thank you.

@VivaLaDani13 What does the doctor say about your breathing problem? Get your rest. It sounds like you need it. I hope he is doing what he is suppose to do for his toe? Since he has to take antibiotics can he still work? Take care of yourself because you are very important to me.

@Hannihar I went to the hospital quite some years ago due to trouble breathing but the doctor didn't do any tests. He just straight out said it was from anxiety without knowing anything about me which was so lame. I had some trouble breathing a couple days after my gallbladder operation and went to my doctor. So checked my lungs with the stethoscope and said that was fine, took my blood pressure and oxygen and all was fine. She suggested too that it was anxiety which I take her word for it rather than that doctor from the hospital that time as he didn't test anything. I was freaking out a bit after my operation anyway so I can agree that was from anxiety. I also assume was anxiety the other night too as I am worried about my dad. Yeah he is taking everything he needs and doing what he is supposed to thank goodness. And thank you very much. You are important to me too!

@Hannihar I'm glad you have a doctor you can trust. I am like you, I only trust and want to speak to my doctor. Thank you so much. Same to you. Always.

@VivaLaDani13 I did not believe the doctor after my colonoscopy and never went back to him afterwards and only to my doctor. My doctor knows me and my health so I trust him. I am so glad your father is doing what he needs to do. You are very important to me too.

Good that you at least tried to stay cool and calm. It is quite natural to feel a bit stressed in such situations. Take care of yourself. Your breathing issue seems to be related to your anxiety. Let's hope for all good in the test report. Sending wishes and prayers.

So glad he went on his own this time. I read the previous one as well then saw the update. I think going early will save him the trouble later. If doctor hadn't said anything negative then he is going to be okay. You are stressed a lot for different reasons. Probably anxiety is the reason for the breathing problems. And as you rightly said you are not someone who can escape the *worrying* completely. All I can say is take one day at a time. Rest well, eat well and sleep well.

@Daljinder Hey dudette. Was going to message you about it but just haven't got around to it. I'm really exhausted so please forgive if I leave things out but long story short, my dad will be going back to hospital soon to have the tip of another toe amputated.

@Daljinder I hope everything will be ok. He needs to go for a blood test as well very soon to test for any infections. So waiting for that too. Thank you DJ. I have you on my mind too at the moment. And no, I can't help it so you're stuck there until everything with you is alright.

I'm glad there was no emergency. I dislike when a nurse panics and makes such statements as that one did. It gets everyone so upset. But then too, it is better to be safe than sorry.

@cperry2 I agree! Panic only causes more panic. But yes, still better to be safe than sorry. Thank you very much for answering.

@VivaLaDani13 According to the phone app DuoLingo I have about a thirty percent understanding of Spanish. I would like to increase it but for now, I don't really have the time to delve into it.

@ElusiveButterfly Thank you, me too. Yeah he was on them before to help with infection then he finished that round quite some time ago and now due to another possible infection, he is put on another round. Not sure if they are the same kind or a different one.

Oh, dear! Tough times. But this surely will pass through. So, cheer up and don't worry about anything. Have 2 to 3 glasses of cool water when you have breathing trouble. Divert your mind as possible as you can. You are brave .. keep it going, Dani!

I’m so sorry he’s enduring that. I have a couple of golfing friends who’ve lost parts of their toes because of diabetes. They both still play (this is mini golf, not the stuff Bubba Watson plays). I hope and pray you and your dad get better. Illness of a family member affects the entire family.

@VivaLaDani13 — it’s a worldwide competitive sport. We’re playing a major tournament this weekend. There’s a mini golf “Masters” (I know a couple of people who’ve won that), and even a US team to play in world mini golf (it was in Sweden this year).

@FourWalls Thank you for explaining it to me. I never knew it was a thing before but I think it's cool. Something I would watch actually. Good luck with the tournament this weekend!

@FourWalls I'm sorry about your friends. And thank you so much for your kind and supportive words. It means a lot to me! I am just curious, is it mini golf for fun or do they do actual tournaments? I don't know if there is such a thing but thought I would ask anyway. Funny enough these past couple weeks I have been craving to play mini golf. No idea why.

I hope that the swab comes back clean. I know its difficult to watch our parent's health decline, but you love him as long as you have him. My own Dad passed 10 years ago this month, and it feels like a lot longer, I cannot tell you how much I miss him. But reading your post about your Dad, and the love that comes thru in your words, is very comforting to me.

I have asthma and something I do and teach those I rend that has copd is to sit down, close their eye and take slow deep breaths, this will help you feel the air better. I also gove my sister a paper bag when she has a panic attack. Please take care of you.

@andriaperry I had asthma when I was a child but outgrew it so seems like it's all anxiety related. Thank you for the tip! I will remember it when this happens again because I know it will happen again. Thank you so much!

Thank you for the update, and it's good news to hear that the doctor didn't seem overly concerned. I hope you are able to relax a little and destress from all that is going on. I suspect your breathing issues are related to the anxiety, a lot of times people with anxiety have breathing issues as symptoms. Please try to get some rest if you can.

@moffittjc Thank you for reading and your answer. It all seems alright for now. Just waiting for some test results back so I don't think we will feel better until we know the results. He is feeling a bit down because things had been going so well for awhile. But we shall see what the tests come back with.
